Dude, my roomie actually quoted a friend who got divorced. Their marriage was never registred in India. They apparently used the "video-cassette" of marriage as proof of marriage.

My roomie is currently facing difficulty in bringing his wife to US on a H4 visa because they did not register their marriage at that time.

And no, you cannot claim that Aishwarya Rai is your wife, but if Aishwarya Rai can produce witnesses she can claim that you are her husband.

You can use photographic or video evidences to back your claim but in this case they do not have photographic evidences to prove they are married. They only show Malik entering in the car or greeting with Ayesha's family. But where is any kind of evidence where both of them are married? the marriage certificate has to be verified from the committee in Pakistan where this certificate was never submitted for registration. Ayesha alone cannot prove this marriage unless the court consider Malik's comments he made on TV couple of years back.

These laws were drafted by woman's group and they are taking advantages of it lot of families get ruined hence mens groups in India

Not in India, lot of people over here believe in traditions more than law. Hence a lot of marriages don't get registered. The laws have to modified accordingly. In court, you just need to provide evidence of marriage.

on a serious note though -- celebs do have a role to play. We have no concept of family planning in this country. It's a recipe for disaster, which is already happening. The land can only support so many people at once -given X amount of resources.

We really do need to promote birth control in Pakistan, and proper family planning.

If Malik proved innocent consider a long trial for Ayesha or her father for deception charges
