LAHORE: Former Pakistani skipper Shoaib Malik has demanded Rs 35 million in return for the coverage rights for his valima ceremony to be held today (Sunday) in Sialkot. According to a private TV channel, Shoaib has held talks with two media groups for giving coverage rights of his valima reception, however an agreement has so far not been reached. Shoaib’s brother-in-law Imran Zafar earlier said that the media would not be allowed to cover the valima. The channel said that Sania was not talking to the local media because she was bound by a contract with an Indian TV channel. Separately, as many as 12 family members of Indian tennis star Sania Mirza, including her father Imran Mirza and sister Anum Mirza, arrived in Lahore to attend her and Shoaib Malik’s valima reception. “We are extremely excited to be here in Lahore and I hope the marriage is successful,” Imran Mirza told journalists upon his arrival at the Allama Iqbal International Airport. daily times monitor

Bechara kya karega - He is without a job and has been suspended from cricket team.

Achi baat hai, the media has gotten ruthless over the Shoaib - Sania case. The family is now at the point of screaming at the media and being totally rude with them.

Sania's mum fell down and got some scratches and bruises in all the hustle and bustle of the media. On top of that imagine the potential for a suicide bomber. They should charge the media for all the harassment.

Whenever they are reporting on them, the news casters have this evil smile on their faces. Jaan choro un dono ki and let them be.

Media humara shoshay baaz hai. Shoaib bichara shareef hai, lekin Imran Zafar ne rakh rakh ke bisti ki hai kal media walon ki on top of that, Media walay bura mana rahay thay that he scolded them.

They deserved to be taken to courts for this blatant abuse of someone's privacy. They are basically creating a paparazzi culture in Pakistan. Some law and order authority should intervene and issue a stern warning.

agree............. i was wondering Media is giving news like Sania's father arrived in Lahore and he is going to stay on the 8th Floor of 5 star hotel in Lahore and you can imagine you can count five star hotels in Lahore on your fingertips - so security risk. Another news that media shared was Sania and Malik's Bedroom reserved in the five star hotel of Islamabad and they were showing the inside pictures/video of that Hotel room in another words "The place where Shoaib and Sania going to celeberate their Wedding Night"?.:lol::lol:

For god sake don't go in such privacy  and who knows if they put some hidden there inside the room and later on Shoaib and Sania's scandle? Malik may sue the whole media and it will be lot of disrespect to the government also as they had given them the status of Official guests and the room was reserved by the government

Sania’s family visits historic places of Lahore

Updated at: 1813 PST, Sunday, April 25, 2010
LAHORE: Mother, sister and other relatives of Sania Mirza went to the Data Darbar to pray and lay flowers at the mazar.

Later, they visited Shahi Qilla and other historic places of Lahore.

Looking them at the Data Darbar, people gathered there and greeted them.

Sania’s maternal aunty said that she was very happy to be in Pakistan and she would come here again.

Relatives of Sania, belonging to Moghul family, went also to Shahi Qilla and Badshahi Masjid and were very much impressed by seeing the symbols of Moghul era and the beauty of these historic places.

They also went to the mazar of Allama Iqbal and offered fateha.

Later, they visited Anarkali Bazar, popular for beautiful Lahori dresses, and did shopping there.

A large contingent of police accompanied the guests for their security.

Sania’s mother was looking annoyed with media during this visit.

Petitions filed in Pak courts against Shoaib

Two petitions were filed in Pakistani courts on Monday against cricketer Shoaib Malik for violating government rules on holding receptions and for the alleged sale of invitation cards for an event to celebrate his wedding with Indian tennis star Sania Mirza.

In a petition filed in the Lahore High Court, a man named Hasan Sheraz alleged that Shoaib had violated a ban on serving more than one dish at marriage functions and the government's order for such functions to be concluded by 10 pm.

Sheraz further alleged that a ban on the use of decorative lights at wedding functions had been violated during a reception hosted for Shoaib and Sania in the cricketer's hometown of Sialkot on Sunday night.

"Cricketer Shaoib Malik has committed both violations. The reception in honour of couple at Sialkot Hockey stadium continued till midnight and decorative lights were used in abundance," Sheraz contended.

He asked the court to penalise Shoaib for flouting the government's orders.

In a separate petition filed in a sessions court in Lahore, a man named Safdar Ali alleged he was barred from attending the reception in honour of Shoaib and Sania even though he had bought an invitation card for Rs 15,000 (about USD 200) from a person who claimed to be a relative of the cricketer. "Despite having the card, the security stopped me from attending the ceremony," he said.

The courts are expected to take up the petitions on Tuesday.

The government of Punjab province last year imposed a bar on serving more than one dish at wedding functions as part of a series of austerity measures.

The federal government recently imposed strict restrictions of the use of electricity as the country is grappling with a crippling energy shortage.

In Pakistan there is a ban in serving 2 dishes in reception? What is the logic?

.
... ban on serving more than one dish at marriage functions .... a ban on the use of decorative lights at wedding functions .... bought an invitation card....

I have to agree to Pakistani posters, We are not from the same culture. And that too in Punjab ... unbelievable.

Sania made a wise choice of moving to Dubai.
