samsung galaxy s2 vs iphone 4

i phone if u wanna use university / college wifi. android has a lot of problem regarding proxy setting.
even though samaung provides proxy option but you can only use it in browser. can't use wifi in any apps like fb, youtube etc.

so in that sense Android sucks!

Guys who don't know anything stop talking the $hit. First don't compare Iphone 4 to Samsung Galaxy S2 for god sake go read before writing something, Iphone 4 inferior than Samsung Galaxy S2 reason Samsung Galaxy S2 is not a competitor of Iphone 4 it was Samsung Galaxy S1 which you can compare with Iphone 4. Regrading meego Nokia is probably going to shut down there is no doubt meego power full OS powered by Linux but Nokia looking forward for Microsoft.

Yes I too got frustrated seeing people comparing symbian with android! Some even saying you can't make video call with galaxy and wifi doesn't work in galaxy! Seems I have a different galaxy altogether! :s

.
Can you make video calls on a galaxy? Nope.

Is the galaxy more prone to system crash and shutdowns? Yup.

Does the iphone have a smoother interface and greater security? Yup.

Does Tin Man have an iPhone? Yup! :P

.
They don't know how to compare or missing the what is right meaning of that particular word. I also saw many of them have no idea about there devices.

. .
I'm using Galaxy S I9003, its a decent phone but a bit power hungry. I use it mainly for stock and commodities updates, news updates , li'l bit of gaming and sometimes for video chatting with parents..

A decent phone for 19K.

.
I even prefer Samsung galaxy s over iPhone 4 and Samsung galaxy s 2 is way too superior than iphone 4 because of its dual core technologies. This will help you to decide correct phone.

Is the galaxy more prone to system crash and shutdowns? Yup.
I am using samsung galaxy s and never faced much crashes and unexpected shut-downs
Does the iphone have a smoother interface and greater security? Yup.
I have used boht and i also found galaxy s much smoother

At present only android and Apple OS are looking loke surviving. Android has the lead due to wider application and users.
I have Iphone 4,(before had 3GS), i love it and dont think am going to change to S2. I am waiting for Iphone 5.
Many friends have bought S2, it is lovely and beats iphone in most of areas.
But
i think it is too big to use as phone.
Looks not as good as iphone.
build quality does not look good, u dont want color wearing of due to use after few months after paying such price, too much plastic.
Dude big is good when you watch videos, play games or surfing web or read pdf. Even if its bigger but it is lesser in weight than iPhone 4. S2 has 4.3 inches screen compare to 3.5 of iPhone and weight only 116g as compare to 137 g of iPhone 4.

secondly Super AMOLED Plus is brighter and cool , 16GB/32GB internal storage with Card slot up to 32GB is great and no one can beat dual-core 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A9 proccessor and last but not least MP4/DivX/XviD/WMV/H.264/H.263 video player as well as full flash support for watching flash content on internet. 8 MP camera with full HD 1080p@30fps video recording, great battery life and what else you need?

i have a question here, how the galaxy use dual core processor? there are no multi-threaded mobiles apps right now so is it just for marketing!

.
btw I just found it that the android 2.4 will start supporting the dual core so yet it just marketing hype

.
and same case will be with iphone5 because I couldn't find anything regarding dual-core/multi-threading in IOS 5 changelog.

conclusion.
both OSes not ready for dual core.

I did not get your question

What a dual-core chip does

Dual-core chips enable more power to be squeezed out of the processor because the chips contain two 1GHz cores - meaning there are two 1GHz processors that can be used in parallel to speed up performance, provided the mobile software has been optimised to take advantage of the parallel processing power. It's not as simple as saying a dual-core processor is twice as fast as a single-core processor, but dual-core chips should enable a noticeable speed and performance hike, particularly when it comes to multitasking.

Apple readies cheaper iPhone for growth markets

Apple Inc will release a cheaper iPhone 4 within weeks, jeopardizing profit margins to win lower-end customers from rivals such as Nokia in China and other emerging markets.

Asian suppliers have begun making a lower-cost version of the hot-selling smartphone with a smaller 8-gigabyte flash drive that will arrive around the same time Apple unveils its much-anticipated iPhone 5, two sources with knowledge of the matter told Reuters.

The world's most valuable technology company has long stuck to the higher end of a booming mobile device arena, but is now seeking out new markets to sustain the rip-roaring pace of growth that has enthralled Wall Street.

It is in talks with leading Chinese carriers China Mobile Ltd and China Telecom Corp Ltd, both of which are eager to carry the device that defined the smartphone market when Apple launched it in 2007.

"A lower-priced version of iPhone 4 seems to be a necessary evil at this point in the iPhone adoption cycle, especially in emerging markets where the average income of individuals is much lower," said Channing Smith, co-manager of the Capital Advisors Growth Fund, which owns Apple shares.

Pat Becker, portfolio manager at Becker Capital Management, said Apple is looking to take a chunk of the market that is currently dominated by Finnish rival Nokia Oyj, which is widely expected to release a new phone running on Microsoft Corp's Windows software as early as end of the year.

Nokia dominates the lower end, while Apple has so far focused only on the premium market.

"Your best defense is sometimes your offense," he said.

A cheaper phone risks cannibalizing Apple's premium iPhone model and pressuring margins, but the California company needs one to expand its emerging market share, analysts say.

The flash drive for the 8-GB iPhone 4 is being manufactured by a South Korean company, one of the sources said on Tuesday, declining to name the company. Apple currently sources its flash drives from Japan's Toshiba Corp and South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co Ltd.

Apple, which demands high levels of secrecy and security from suppliers and employees, would not comment. Samsung also declined comment.

IPHONE 5 BY END-SEPT?

The iPhone 4 was launched June 2010 in black 16-GB and 32-GB versions, with white versions added to the lineup in April. The 8-GB version is expected within weeks, the sources said.

"Apple may want to push into the emerging market segment, where customers want to switch to low- to mid-end smartphones from high-end feature phones, which usually cost $150 to $200," said Yuanta Securities analyst Bonnie Chang.

"But I think for an 8-GB iPhone 4, the price is hard to go below $200, so Apple will still need a completely new phone with low specifications for the emerging markets." An iPhone 4 without contract commitments now costs over $600.

In addition to the launch of the smaller iPhone 4, Apple is targeting an end-September launch for the next-generation iPhone 5, one source said, confirming earlier reports on Apple follower blogsites and industry websites.

The new iPhone -- which some call the iPhone 4S because of its largely identical appearance to the existing iPhone 4 -- will have a bigger touch screen, better antenna and an 8-megapixel camera, one source said.

The iPhone 5's two manufacturers have been told to prepare production capacity for up to 45 million units altogether, the source said. The phone will be made by Hon Hai Precision Industries Co Ltd and Pegatron Corp, the person added.

Apple sold 20.34 million iPhones in the second quarter versus an expected 17 million to 18 million, and is increasingly looking to Asia to boost future results.

Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook said in July the company is particularly optimistic about Greater China, in which Apple includes mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

"I firmly believe that we are just scratching the surface right now," Cook said about China. "I think there is an incredible opportunity for China there."

Asia-Pacific -- which accounts for about one-fifth of Apple's total revenue -- and Greater China in particular helped Apple's revenue surge 82 percent to $28.6 billion in April-June.

Overall, Asia-Pacific revenue more than tripled to $6.3 billion in the quarter.

If you dont have an Iphone..well.. you dont have an Iphone ...

The driod is a fine platform.. but once you have had iOS.. and the sheer size of the itunes store catalog.there isnt any going back.
I was once an Iphone critic... thought the overpriced things were showpieces..
But took the plunge on the Iphone 4.. and now dont want to have anything else.

.
I am open to buying a cheaper version of iphone 4 when it comes out. I dont want to put in too much money in expensive phones. My Nokia 5800 XM is more than enough for all my needs.

Btw, How much would the cheaper version cost ?
