The ideology still does matter, since the world is now surrounded by the capitalist powers, and the socialist nations will keep losing more ground if we don't keep that in mind.

If VCP has chosen to negotiate and to compromise, and China will still prefer to not fight with them.

I don't fully agree with your assessment. VCP want to side with US nothing much China can do. Dangling a carrot is not the answer because they will eat it and still side with US.

Then that's their own problem.

We are doing our best and already giving them a chance, while if they want to dig their own grave, then there is nothing we can do about it, since trusting USA is like dancing with the wolves.

And you should say that China is more pragmatic than some capitalist nations.

But at its core, China still cares about its state-owned economy more than anything else, so this makes us different from the true capitalist nations.

4. The move of the oil rig by China from SCS, whether intentional or not is seen as a victory to Vietnam--further ego boost.
5. The brainwashing of their history about fictional vietnamese dynasties ruling over China--inflated their ego.
6. China negotiating with VCP officials calling for cooperation is seen as weakness by Vietnamese, ---inflated their ego

I know, VCP is also playing with the fire by brainwashing their youths with the ultra-nationalism concept.

At least CPC is much more mature and knows how to control the pace.

If VCP is destined to get backfired by the ultra-nationalism/populism they created, then there is nothing we can do.

In order to dangle with USA, you need to first outsmart them, but I doubt VCP can achieve that.

CPC, on the other hand, has managed to successfully walk on the fire line by outsmarting USA, but this is not a game that everybody can play.

NiceGuy always thinks they can also duplicate CPC's success by cozying up with USA, but no, CPC's success can only be duplicated by CPC itself, not by anyone else.

In China over 400 million people can't understand Mandarin the language of Han Chinese from North China.
