Amended prices seen at a self-service laundromat in Manchester on September 7, 2022. More than 1 million more people will be forced into poverty this winter, pushing UK deprivation levels to their highest for two decades even if the government freezes energy prices at current levels, according to media reports. The energy crisis engulfing Europe is making consumers turn to a solution thousands of miles away: electric blankets from China.
Export data points to a surge that has buoyed the fortunes of companies like Shenzhen-based UTK Technology, a producer and seller of the blankets on e-commerce website Alibaba, which confirms demand has reached an unprecedented level this month.
Daily inquiries from European buyers have increased fivefold, and most people request urgent shipping, according to Crane Jin, UTK’s general manager. The company expects to deliver over 10,000 blankets to the continent in the next month.

Electric blanket very important.

When I was in Lijiang and beyond in winter of 98, the electric blanket on the bed, and a comforter on top used in guest houses and hotels so cosy.

I also did a version of that when I was in Taiwan. No electric blanket then in early 90s.

I used a space heater that blow hot air and directed the hose into the mattress. My Taiwanese friends that I crazy to sleep in winter with windows opened.
Until they got onto my bed.

Wonderful cold fresh air, and a comfortable cosy warm bed.

it uses electricity ...can they afford the bills?

A world of difference between heating the entire apartment, or even a room, as against heating the bed , and the space between the bed and the comforter where your body is.

Why don’t you give him what he wants?
Maybe he can stop global warming.

You are just a clown. Nobody gives anything for free. I have old shoes to donate. If he wants it.
Who said free, Putin will give gas in return. It’s a good deal, just a little bit of Ukraine to not freeze in the winter.

I'd give the whole Europe to him but he only wanted eastern Ukraine. A very modest man he is.
Not that Putin is modest, but that Russia does not have such a big stomach.

Russia has neither the independent values like the Soviet Union nor a large homogeneous population. If it swallows up the whole Europe, it will not be Europe but Russia that will die.

So Putin only dared to ask for Russian speaking areas.

They've been around since at least the 1930's.

They went out of fashion in the 1970's in the US after new building codes in the 1960's required insulation in all building walls. Plus people were always worried about hidden frayed wires from the washing machine (if it was even washable) causing a fire. I wouldn't buy one for that reason.

You are funny why don’t you give your house to the robber so he can give you some penny in return?
Tell him he can keep it. In case you haven’t noticed Russia has stopped gas delivery since almost a month. Nobody will freeze here. The storage is full.
