Veteran actor, Kamal Haasan, on Friday made it clear that he wasn’t joining the BJP or parties with right-wing ideologies.
Speaking to reporters, he said that the saffron was not not his colour and he was taking advice from Kerala chief minister.
He said, “I have been talking to Kerala CM (Pinarayi Vijayan) about it, taking advice, will meet more politicians before I make my call. My colour is obviously seen over the 40 years I have been working in cinema, definitely it’s not saffron. I want to be in the middle of things, not leaning to any side.”
Earlier today, Haasan met Vijayan at his residence in Kerala giving rise to speculations that the veteran actor may join the Marxist party.
Kerala chief minister’s official Twitter handle tweeted, “Renowned actor Kamal Haasan visited Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at his official residence, Cliff House, today.”
Tamil Nadu politics of have been abuzz with speculations that Haasan will soon enter politics amidst political turmoil in the state after the death of J Jayalalithaa.
On 21 August, Haasan had mocked the merger of the two factions of the AIADMK saying that Tamilians now had clow caps on their heads.
Minutes after the two AIADMK factions merged, Haasan had tweeted in Tamil, “Gandhi cap, Saffron cap, Kashmir cap, now a clown cap on the head of Tamilians. Is this enough, or do you want more? Rise up Tamizha.” The actor went on to accuse the AIADMK of indulging in a ‘drama of splitting and now uniting.’
