Nearly thirty years, 18 meetings and god know how much money spent and all that be said for SAARC is that its worth having because thats the only place where the indians can win a bunch of medals...lol.

What is ISRO offering? Anything new? All those you talk about are available commercially right now from various suppliers not just ISRO. Why would BD need a nav sat when it already uses the commercial GPS?

everything you can find in the domestic market with right money.does BD has it??ISRO offered these states Sats which's cost going to be shared.and ISRO promised to develop centers in each country to use this sat.otherwise,it is useless,isn't it??

Either Pakistan or India needs to withdraw from SAARC for it to work effectively, the two nations together is just counter productive.

It's our bad luck that we were run by fools like Nehru...... India was offered ASEAN membership when it was formed & we could have easily dominated the grouping + would have forged close east Asia policy way back. But Nehru is Nehru - He simply REJECTED.

& then Rajiv came up with this gem called SAARC!!

You must be kidding..China is in every way a part of east asia,nay east asia is mostly China.Even a nation like Bhutan is an oddity in SAARC.

The south asian countrie have very litle in common with each other and most distrust each other to the core. It would be better to concentrate on more relevant organisations in their region.

Bangladesh should concentrate on integrating with ASEAN economies, Pakistan can concentrate on the middle east and central asia where it has more in common. India can concentrate on its regional relations with nepal and bhutan, these are far better options, then trying to stitch together nations with very little in common.

Fact is that you guys are concentrating to do this thing since long....No one is stopping you to enhance your intrest with above mentioned states...But are you successful as now? That is a million dollar question..

SAARC satallite was a good step by Modi. something to offer for SAARC counties rather than just handshakes. May be start a SAARC university in South Asia where students from all South Asia could study. Students in South Asia barely get any interaction with international students. This could be a step in right direction.

Why are you indians so pro SAARC? Its just used by politicians as a photo op, nothing and i mean absolutley nothing concrete has ever been achieved at SAARC. So why are you indians so interested in a dead horse?

Fact is that you guys are concentrating to do this thing since long....No one is stopping you to enhance your intrest with above mentioned states...But are you successful as now? That is a million dollar question..

No actually its just very recently that Bangladesh has put any significant effort to open a dialouge with ASEAN countries, after decades of just looking from the sidelines. ASEAN is a thriving dynamic group of countries, an expanding market unlike SAARC, our relations with Korea, Japan, Indonesia, China, Malaysia etc etc have taken a very postive turn, these countries are looking to invest in Bangladesh, unlike SAARC which offers nothing.

The only nations that it has no direct borders are Bangladesh and maldives, so if myanmar can join why cant China? And India has borders with myanmar,china,Afg (theoretically on paper according to Indian claims),pakistan(with many pakistanis seeing themselves as more ME/Central asian than south asian).So I guess India is a part of SEA,EA,CA and ME all at once?
Or the nations to the northern tip of South america as they are so close to North America that they are North American than south american?
Or china has borders with so many ASEAN nations that it is a part of SEA effectively?China has borders with CAR so it is now a central Asian republic to boot as well?
The former USSR or Russian empire before was a part of europe, Middle east,East asia,north america all at once as it shared borders or had some territories in these parts?

Even most of NE is not really South asian per se but South east asian in case of most NE with South tibet or sikkim being a part of tibetan spehere of influence and ultimately Chinese.The only one sticking out being Assam which is mixed of South asian,some mongoloid from China and Burma.

Some kind of absurd logic that is,sharing borders doesn't mean one is part of a particular regional classification/group.China is what defines east Asia and it is east asian and not south asian.It is more likely to have more in common with SEA than SA.SAARC is a useless org and a waste of China's resources and assets.It should instead concentrate on plucking bhutan,south tibet out of Indian occupation and again a part of sinosphere.Let the SAsians fumble off,it is not of muh concern to China,except Pakistan which is a strategic ally of China and one of almost indispensable nature for future Chinese rise and keeping India in check

It would be better if India can suspend pakistan from SAARC. That would really be for the best.

pakistan can be brought in later when they have shown serious action against ending terrorism. Till then its better t o have SAARC without them. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
