Saad Rafique takes a dig at Musharraf

ISLAMABAD- Though the PML-N has yet to decide on the fate of former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique today appeared to be a man not willing to let the former president fly abroad.

The PML-N leader sarcastically said: "Pervez Musharraf keeps his one hand on his heart and the other on the hospital bed. He is found in ICU and then he attended the court hearing." He advised the former strongman through media to 'show courage, be a man and shun the acting'. Khawaja Saad Rafique said Musharraf was being tried on court orders, not at the behest of the government. He said that the former ruler committed 'mother of crimes' by abrogating the Constitution time and again.

"He himself decided to enter politics, now he should face the situation," Saad Rafique said. To a question, the minister, who earlier said the government had yet to decide on Musharraf's exit, responded that what answer would the government offer to Sindhis and the Balochs if the former president was allowed to leave the country. He confirmed that consultations were underway over Musharraf's application seeking to remove his name from the Exit Control List. He, however, added that no decision had been made so far.

I think if we want to settle this question of traitor then PML-N or PPP are not the parties who can decided that.

Both these parties signed agreements with Musharraf. They may deny to show off their fake democratic credentials but the fact remains. PML-N signed agreement to leave the country while PPP and its leader signed agreement to come back to the country.

The bigger question than this specious argument of traitor is looting public wealth and building properties and business empires abroad. This is a question that both PPP and PML-N have to answer but they wont.

For democracy, even a fig leaf of it, there must be democracy in both the parties. We all know for a fact these parties are family concerns. So they are not democratic themselves so to preach what they dont practice is hypocrisy not democracy.

I m not a Musharraf fan. The country is in problems because he took wrong decisions under pressure. But I cant for a minute think he is a traitor. He is not. He is patriotic. Whatever he did, he did it for the country. He knew he would put on a fake trial by fake democrats but he still came back. If the roles were reversed, these fake democrats would have been looking for a way out by cutting deals or better yet, would not have returned to the country.
