SAAB-2000 Erieye delivery flight to PAF at ATHENS - 27/05/2020

. . .
MPA?? PN has ATR 72s and is going for LRMPAs. I see no reason for PAF to have submarine and ship detecting capabilities on SAAB when ZDK3s and MPAs are doing their jobs
ZDK are expensive to operate and not as good as the SAAB. Though PAF had to build a special link 17 to communicate but SAAB already had this capability from day one. This is one of the reason PN opted for ATR72 as MPA.

PAF might want to replace the ZDK for some other platform which can have an AESA radar.

I thought one of those ZDK we have were sent to China for "upgrades" , more or less many on this forum have said that the are capable in their role and the recent "perhaps upgrade" have made them more relevant for Pakistan's Integrated battlespace environment.

In the original press release from Saab, it stated that deliveries would be made from 2020 to 2023. But that press release dates from 18 May...would it make a delivery that quickly after the press release?

https://saabgroup.com/media/news-press/news/2020-05/saab-receives-airborne-surveillance-order/

The May 18 Saab order has nothing to do with this delivery.

From the first batch of 4× Saab 2000 Erieye, one was reduced to ashes in the terrorist attack, two more - one severely - were damaged and later repaired by PAC at a fraction of the cost quoted by Saab.

The 5th aircraft came as replacement for the w/o unit, with PAF spending over US$ 130 million on aircraft recovery.

The 6th aircraft can be seen in the pic on page 1, the 7th is pending conversion to AEW&C.

There are few more Saab 2000s registered with PAF, their fate is anyone's guess.

Can we have a side by side comparison of Saab 2k Erieye with the belly hump and the one without?

Exactly, that's the point I was making, thanks for confirming.

Store as much weapons as possible because we are facing a bitter enemy who only wants our destruction. Buy everything that can help us. Our enemy is very clever, like a fox.
