are you serious? you are using stats from aboriginal society and representing them as australias broader society?

nice scheming but it doesn't cut it,

aboriginal society has problems of its own which it and the government are trying to address. statistics for aboriginal society is vastly higher then australian society. and cannot even be compared to it in fact.

i would probably think aboriginal society is a closer model of indian society though, these things are very prevalent in both societies.

and the us does not have 1 in 3, you are a tool with no credibility at all.. especially after you try to pass off aboriginal society statistics as australian lmao..

australia and aboriginal community leaders are doing their best to address the problems that lie in aboriginal communites, much the same as india and i applaud both countries for that. however, both have a very very long way to go and yes what i have said ALL ALONG is that the problem lies within the society, its beliefs, how it conducts itself , lack of morals etc the list goes on.

so now you won't, but it is easy for an unbiased intelligent person to see i am not differentiating some issues that affect india and indeed australia and i have acknowledged both of these societies have a long way to go, but that they need to improve on and change their societies for the better. and you can make all the law you want and it wont change a thing until that society itself changes!!!!

australias society is miles ahead of indian and aboriginal societies..... we are not perfect either, but the facts remain india got an extremely bad reputation in this area for a good reason, and its a worldwide reputation. but hey i guess i am still wrong even though indians have proven they are the same wherever they go?

in any case i am NOT in america... and those stats don't add upto 1 in 3 ppl being raped lol

:fie: WTF is wrong with you?? did you bother reading the links? and NO they are not the aboriginals - but your very own white Aussie women are being raped and molested

More than one in five women questioned for a US survey reported having been raped. Nearly a third of all women said they had experienced episodes of sexual assault, physical violence or stalking at the hands of an intimate partner.

The study, compiled by the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, offers a disturbing glimpse into the private lives of women in America, particularly to abuse within a relationship that often goes unreported.

Victims of rape or other forms of physical violence were also more likely to suffer mental ailments as a consequence of the attacks, it said.

For the survey data was collected in 2010 from phone interviews with 16,500 adult Americans. Results indicated that some 12 million Americans may have been victims of rape, stalking or physical violence – 24 victims of these violations in the US every minute.

One in five American women 'has been raped' - Americas - World - The Independent

And, I said 1 in 3 have been sexually molested not raped - do you know the difference between both??

Here's some more stats for you.

1 in 3 American women will be sexually abused during their lifetime. (George Mason University, Worldwide Sexual Assault Statistics, 2005)
1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men will be sexually assaulted before the age of 18. (Finkelhor et al., 1990)
In 2002 247,730 people were raped/sexually assaulted in the US, according to a National Crime Victimization Survey (www.ncvc.org)
In 2002, 54% of rapes and sexual assaults were reported to the police (www.ncvc.org)
Every 2 minutes someone somewhere in America is sexually violated (www.rainn.org)

Bother to read them before ranting here.

i Propose we change the name of this website from pak defence forum to any of the following:

2. India obsession forum
3. india rape forum

would appreciate your valuable input.

@Elmo You say raise concerns via PM but the insults are done here in open thread.

i just read in todays newspaper that a fillipina lady was molested by an indian man in her office !!!!!

Accountant accused of molesting jobseeker

Accountant accused of molesting jobseeker

Marie Nammour / 26 March 2013

An accountant denied in the Court of First Instance having touched and groped a woman he had lured into his office for a job interview.

According to prosecution records, the 23-year-old defendant, an Indian, lured the woman, a Filipina, into his office where he was to interview her for the role as a secretary, but the complainant claims he molested her instead.

The Filipina, 23, said that the accused called her on February 17 after she had posted her mobile phone number online while searching for employment. She was unable to meet him on the same day and adjourned the appointment to the following day. She described the defendant as “persistent” when inviting her to his office.

She arrived at the location shortly after 5.30pm and the defendant asked her to sit on a chair as he would ‘test her skills on a computer programme’.

Allegedly, he sat down beside her and touched her hand. He then proceeded to touch her body, groping her. The complainant screamed, warning him that her brother-in-law was waiting downstairs for her. He told her to wait as he wanted to teach her how to use the computer programme but she told him she would come back another day.

She claimed the defendant told her to meet him somewhere else, telling her not to bring anyone with her on the next visit.

The complainant was able to walk out of the office unobstructed, but she claimed she was very scared. She called him later that same day by phone to tell him that what he did was unacceptable and he apologised for his actions. She then filed a complaint against him at the Rashidiya Police Station.

you people should do some thing to stop it atleast on an international scale

the way indian society is, is what ours was a hundred or so years ago.

Don't think Indian society ever was what Australians were couple of hundred years ago. Here I'm not talking about aboriginals but the British left over migrants.

I mean coming from a population of convicts(of murder, rape and arson) then labeling a billion people with a broad brush, two things simply don't go hand in hand.

Reminds me of Arjuna Ranatunga's famous rebuttal to Warne and Haden. ;)

I remember i watched this show called amazing race some years ago and in one of their visits, american tourists visited India and the women were complaining harassements in trains. You are right. Women and Public transportation don't mix well over there. I bet it must be embarrassing on national tv.

hey that my favorite show thou.
amazing TV's show really likes it.
India government should take an action to solve this phenomena.
bet if they ignore this there won't be any tourist left in India.

there is no phenomena. according to stats, molestation happens in india with as much frequency as it happens anywhere else. the pakistanis in their insecurity and envy love to highlight this aspect while ignoring their problems under the rug. thats why india always improves while pak remains a pakistan

I've said this before on other threads. You can't go by stats. In countries where the social and legal systems are in place, victims feel no stigma in coming forward. In countries where victims are vilified, harassed, and perhaps even tortured for stepping forward, you're not going to get many that want to step forward. There are quite a number of articles that suggest this to be the case in India.

From CNN:
Five men are on trial in India this week for the brutal gang rape of a 23-year-old girl.

The case has put India’s treatment of its women, and especially rape victims, under the spotlight as never before.

Even if a rape is reported, victims often complain that Indian police either dismiss their complaints or fail to protect them from their attackers.

Indian police estimate that a staggering 60% of rapes go unreported. Just 26% of the prosecuted cases resulted in convictions in 2011, according to the National Crime Records Bureau.

Kiran Bedi was the first high-ranking female officer in India's police force. Her tough brand of law enforcement made such an impact that she became a nationally-recognized figure. A documentary film called ‘Yes madam, sir,’ chronicled her career as a crusading activist.

She knows better that most what needs to change in her country – demanding a wide-ranging education campaign and an entire overhaul of the police, judiciary and politics to combat the systematic scourge of rape and violence against women in India.

I've even read reports that sometimes the number is as high as +90%.

Do unreported cases happen in the west? Sure they do but women in Canada don't get harassed by police if they want justice. Also, seeking legal options doesn't have to be a financial burden.

Every country has dirt. Own up to it and fight it. Denying it makes you look stupid and classless.

Thank you for your concern but I really do not find any thing of import in your comment above.

We have been owning up our dirt and trying to wash it, however you are not aware of the larger context on PDF of rapes and anything related to India.

So while your comments have been repeated ad-nauseam, the Indians are already protesting and changing laws. Thank you!

what a shame! Even based on the statistics as reported, india is the worst in Asia; among the worst in the world.

That's fine with me. If you don't find it useful, others will. I realize that people here troll these topics just like any other but I've inquired about this issue in the hopes of having an actual discussion but have no been successful.

My current problem with this is that certain members here on PDF get harassed for stating what they feel. Like the Aussie a few pages back. Also, the denial that there's a problem. I understand that it becomes a pissing contest in here and if you are sick of these threads then simply ignore them and move on but I will continue to post.

Korean student molested on Kolkata city bus - The Times of India
TNN | Mar 26, 2013, 12.49 AM IST

The student and her flatmate have been in Kolkata for about four years now. They extended their visa so that they could "imbibe Bengali culture". They are also involved in the activities of a church in Thakurpukur. Locals say the Korean duo would wear only salwar kameez, and interact in Bengali.

Hmm ... a Korean missionary.

My sympathies and apologies to her for her unpleasant experience.

I would suggest that while she is in Kolkata, she should visit the Ramakrishna Mission at Belur Math, so that she can learn more about Dharma and authentic Bengali and Indic culture.

I thought rape and attempt to rape threads are banned :woot: .
Either the mods are too ignorant/stupid or racist .
