S. Korea says North 'rocket' could fly 10,000km

. . .
I highly doubt that N.Korea has the tech capacity to do this alone.
There could have been some help from China or perhaps not. Who knows?

The fact remains that N.Korea is just using this to extract more from the US.

.
when would Pakistan test fire its ICBM...........????

Nothing to extract. Just gives us more excuses to build up the missile defense system. This example will definitely silences its critics. Especially Russia.

US does that, we build more missiles, then our neighbours gets scared and build/buy their own missiles.
Welcome to the new arms race.

Great news for pakistan's icbm quest. Since pakistan doesn't have missile technology, they can borrow from NK just like they bought gauri, shaheen etc from them. Sad day for the free world, ICBM in the hands of muslim country means Global jihad of terrorizing free world.

Where might this system be built? Japan?
Russia currently seems more concerned with the European mainland. China is the one looking out to the high seas. Japan and S.Korea will be closely watched.

Kindly refrain from contaminating other members with your stage-4 Islamophobia.

Doctor's recommendation: Take a break... A really long one.

Welcome to the new arms race.

And we keep building more interceptors. Welcome to the arms race that we won.

Indeed where would the system be built. For example Japan has their own BMD which we helped. And we have multiple ships that are capable of shooting down missiles and satellites. Something China freaked out about. Don't know why when they shot down their own. They should have expected a response.

This is another source. Seems more reliable.

Regardless of anything else about the country, this is still an impressive achievement by the North Koreans.

i wish all Pakistanis were honest as you are ...

Sadly, the Pakistani ruling class thinks like him.

Which is why Pakistan remains a space technology backwater even after all these decades.

Another Chinese member suspended? Am shocked...!!! Shocked...!!! I say...

Anyway...The Soviets lost that arms race. China WILL as well if China want to play.

Here is why...

The moment even just one interceptor is successful during testing and development, the entire ballistic missile attack capability of an adversary is in serious jeopardy. All the defense program has to do is replicate the conditions of that success, have more successful interceptions, and make incremental deviations from those conditions to have more successful interceptions from more sophisticated interceptors that can deal with the variables in each deviation. That is how weapons testing and development works: Rigged tests.

The only time rigged tests deserves scorn is if they do not release variables into the regime. Variables such as environment by testing during night times, or at dusk/dawn for confusing IR sensors at certain sun angles, or during rain storms for confusing radars, and so on...

The desire to have 'High precision, High accuracy' warheads actually make the defensive measure easier to achieve. Can you guess why based upon the above illustration? I doubt it. It make it easier because in order to hit that fixed ground target, a ballistic warhead will have fairly rigid flight paths and conditions, as in constant and predictable variables. One warhead after another. Is it possible that one descent condition just happened to match one of those rigged tests? You bet.

Maneuverable warheads? That possibility have been discussed here many times already and the idea is not new. But it is odd that no one have actually deployed such a system that has a proven rate of success, or a high amount of rigged tests in his development regime.

Bottom line is that despite all the public criticisms back then during The Cold War about 'Star Wars' missile defense program, and I lived through that time, privately the scientists and engineers directly involved in ballistic missile offense and defense knew the idea is very technically feasible and that it would force the Soviets to rethink how they could attack the US. And the bottom line to this bottom line is that the US would have a greater survived respond capability to really defeat the Soviets in a nuclear exchange.
