S. Korea military fires at passenger jet by mistake

What would have been the US response if the North Koreans had accidentally fired at a civilian plane?

Even if N.Korea blew up the plane there would be no response other than international condemnation which N.Korea really doesn't care about. A few new movements for helping the victims families, helping the victims get justice, liberating the people of N.Korea, etc would sprout up. Commercial planes would stop flying anywhere near N.Korean airspace and life will go on as usual inside N.Korea. The ordinary N.Koreans might not know about the incident at all, and if they do, they will know that an intruding "Imperialist spy plane" was shot down by the glorious impenetrable defence forces of Korea.

. . .
What were they trying to prove shooting an airborne passenger plane with a rifle ? Even if they landed a few hits there would be no difference in the plane's operational capability, unless they hit one the engines which only the likes of Chuck Norris can accomplish on a very good day.

Rajnikant can do it with a sling shot
