S-E-X EDUCATION should be include in text books: Mufti Qavi

. .
Of course sex education, but with local sensitivities is very important, young people need to know why their bodies are changing and why they have certain feelings, will reduce the mystery of the opposite sex, this is the 21st Century after all.

I think it needs to be taught, but with traditional values. The Western model for this sort of education won't be good. Also choosing appropriate ages and closely monitoring the syllabus and carefully planning the teaching should take place before something as delicate as this is implemented.

Well, he's right. When people are educated about a subject, they'll treat it with more respect and less of the 'oyyhoye' BS. HOWEVER, we need to be careful - S.e.x education does not mean total shamelessness. A part of this education should be how to discuss such topics, which parts are shameful and with whom and how one should communicate such feelings.

Some Islamic principles pertaining to this subject need to be taught too. This would be a great step for Pakistani society, especially the youth who are often completely perplexed by the concept of human reproduction.

Making a big deal (ooyy hoyye mentality) out of this is plain stupid.

Esp attention to choosing the teacher...one who wont take advantage himself/ herself in exploiting the student!

not sure about applying this in Pakistan with the current state of our schools
with that content in text books you will need to have teachers who can convey it in a right proper way
plus there was this controversy in Lahore Grammar School where parents objected to it

Good, as long as you introduce it around 13 years of age or around 8th class.
Besides this sort of information is already there in biology textbooks in human reproduction chapter.
You don't need to start it from kindergarten as some liberals suggest.
Yes there should be understanding about ED,STD,menstruation cycle, contraceptives etc.

Engineering students look at biology like its teaching about alien life!

firstly, I think its the parent's job rather than the state/school's

but I also realize how awkward and weird it might be in some traditionally conservative/religious societies like we find here in south asia

I think the best would be to hold classes for those parents on how to approach their kids when they reach that insane age, let's be honest.. you're not going to be able to shield them from the interwebs unless you're super hitler kind of parents, and even then.. they're going to access pron anyway, and they're going to want to access pron.. good luck fighting mother nature and hormones otherwise :woot:

During my High school days (6th-10th), every year there used to be 2 days exclusive to s.e...x education. Teachers from other schools would visit us (So that there isn't any shyness b/w us) and they explain to us about the various things related to s.e...x.uality, private parts and also clear any doubts we have.

I think the same can also be implemented in Pakistan.
