Rutgers Professor Deepa Kumar Says U.S. Is More ‘Brutal’ Than ISIS

Considering the amount of religious hardliners who would love to turn India into some dark age religious failed state.... you seem to be the one who is out of touch with the political realities of India.
What.....what????
How was my post in any way infering to any type of poltical catastrophe in India or pointing towards religious polarisation of India by zealots.
My post,if it is still confusing to you,was a simple mocking of the role of hardline leftist in democracy who nowadays seems to disagree or criticise any decision taken by a majority based government.

Says the guy who needs to mock secularism even in this thread?!

Reread your first post here again and tell us how this is connected to secularism.

And dont come up with your "irony BS". You know exactly that there is no reason to consider it irony when there are religious fundamentalists running amok in the Indian political scene.

For the last time,my post was not meant to criticise secularity or convey any type of sectarian or majority bullcrap. All I was trying to emanate was the hypocrisy of the so called liberals or "seculars" who try to project a view of minority transgression by various institution but when atrocities committed by the aforementioned minority comes into the limelight, takes a protectionist viewpoint. This type of behaviour is called secularism in India but what really define it is the word lobbying.

Deepa Kumar needs to shove it and go join the isis land for less brutality.

What a stupid woman. What is she doing at a university?

She should be in Delhi zoo.

Thats still not secularism. If I call India a monarchy it would still not be a monarchy just because I claim it to be one.

So at least put secularism in quotes then.

As a member of the US academic community, she has every right to air her views, however controversial. The debate that she provokes can be only good for intellectual discourse. Let her speak her mind freely. The country that she criticizes grants her this freedom unequivocally.

I think this freedom of speech thing is getting a bit stupid now, yes you have right to speak out your mind, however, shouldn't you really debate first if it should be discussed or not?

Why not something else? If you have freedom to express, use it for a better argument.

As a Professor, she has every right to speak out her mind. This is quite sacrosanct in US academia, and indeed somewhat expected.

Hehehe. So Amrika is getting a taste of our Indian sickular brigade

To my dear Amrikan friends, we have thousands more of these idiots in our country, no common sense only loony lefty ideology. We some on PDF too

I've studied in USA for 3 years. I know for a fact that most professors will think twice before sharing their views. It's called being a responsible academic.

You can engage in any discussion you want as you say you have freedom, but tell me why is it anyone harping on the holocaust or debating Israeli policy, that in USA is surely going to get fired or face consequences?

Maybe the recent case of Steven Salaita will ring some bells.

So, with due respect sir, America grants freedom to speak one's mind, is true. Does it guarantee against any repercussions that follow, well who knows.....

Steven Saliata was not yet a Professor, otherwise he would have had the same rights to speak out his mind. I can assure you that debates over the Holocaust are rigors and unfettered among academics and their students here.

No you can't. Like i said, i've studied and lived there. Bring up topics like those, and be ready to have your 'freedom' handed back to you.

So are you saying, just because someone didn't become a Professor, they don't have the so called freedom to speak out his mind? That too over what his personal tweets were about?

Nice.

There was probably more to his offer being rescinded than just those tweets. Freedom of speech is taken very seriously here, without a doubt. Try going to just about any MSA in a major college and see if there is any restriction on them speaking their mind about Israel.
