that missile on the rustom may be on testing purpose, or may be for technology demonstrator.
and it is not correct to say that we don't need any missile armed rustom, UCAV will be very effective in anti-maoist operations.

GOI not going to use any UCAV in anti maoist operation. But for recce unarmed drones will be used/ are in use.

According to the documents seen by The Sunday Standard, DRDO approved procurement of 16 vehicles under the project “Indigenous Development of Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle” code named Rustom II.

As per the documents, Hina A Gokhale, Director (HRD) at DRDO Headquarters, took special concurrence of the Ministry of Finance of Rs 2.23 crore in exemption of the extant ban for the “sensitive project”.

But top scientists of Bangalore-based Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE)—DRDO’s biggest laboratory—decided to take the Department for a ride, and procured SUVs in the name of ‘Remote Video Terminal’ (RVT). Five high-end Toyota Innova SUVs were purchased by the ADE purportedly under RVT.

RVT is a modular video and data system that enables war-fighters to remotely downlink live surveillance images and critical geospatial data, directly from joint operations tactical unmanned aircraft systems.

we didn't use air power because we don't want any collateral damage. and our AF don't want to turn their gun against their fellow country men. but a UCAV used by paramilitary or police forces such as BSF, or ITBP will be useful. why should we risk life of our soldiers when we have other effective alternative ways to eliminate terrorism?? a missile from a UCAV is much more accurate than a missile from a fighter jet.

it depends on the gov. CRPF, BSF, ITBP and state police have already asked for UAVs and UCAVs.

That is ethics question bro.

And that is Indian Govt. policy to not use air power over our own population. These policies are hard core embedded inside India, and these policies never going to change.

How can u say a missile from UCAV is more accurate than a fighter jet ?

Paramilitary only uses UAV for Recce mission, not for dropping bombs. It will be suicidal for any govt to allow UCAV on it's own citizens.

UAV was dispatched during the Sukma incident of January 2015 from Hyderabad to assist CRPF.

Homeleand Warriors
CRPF DG Pranay Sahay and other paramilitary officials, Singh said, "UAV is an inescapable need for anti-Naxal operation in LWE-affected areas. Hence, our UAV plan should be such that we are not dependent on others." Singh directed the CRPF to procure sufficient numbers of UAVs and suggested that these machines should be operated by the paramilitary forces themselves as images generated by these drones can aid the CRPF in their anti-Naxal activities in a huge way.

CRPF officials told the Home Secretary that Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) has projected higher cost for the procurement of Skylark mini UAVs. Singh sought a meeting with CMD, HAL to resolve the issue of high cost quoted by the defence PSU over and above the import cost of procurement of UAV.

The Ministry has already accorded expenditure sanction for purchase of two Skylark mini UAVs. A group of officials from CRPF and BSF are being detailed for training with the UAV wing of the NTRO.

I can only say,,,

These small things differ us from Pakistan. Ever you imagine a Zarb-e-Azb like op in India, where we using tanks, arty, jets, LGB over our own population?

These small things makes India, we are not Pakistan. And I am proud of it.
