The much anticipated fifth-generation engine for the Russian Su-57 stealth fighter jet will be introduced after 2025, Deputy Minister of Defense Alexei Krivoruchko has said.

“The deliveries of fifth-generation Su-57 fighters to the Russian Air Force are planned in two stages: until the mid-2020s with a fourth-generation engine, after - with a fifth-generation engine,” he said during the course of an interview with US based publication.

“A significant event for us will be the start of serial supply of Su-57 aircraft. At the first stage, the aircraft will be purchased with fourth-generation engines, the delivery of which is planned until the mid-2020s."

"And in the second stage, after the completion of the tests, supplies with the engine and fifth-generation power plants, which have increased fuel efficiency and lower life cycle costs, will already begin," Krivoruchko said.

The late introduction of the second-stage engine which was first tested on the Su-57 in December 2017 should be a matter of concern for the international sales effort of the aircraft. The export verson, dubbed Su-57E was launched at the MAKS 2019 show in Moscow and was first shown to Turkish President Erodgan.

The second stage engine (internally called Project 30) offers higher power to weight ratio and super-cruise ability as compared to the current Project 117 engine.

The contract for the supply of 76 Su-57 fighters to the Russian Aerospace Forces was signed at the Army 2019 forum. Currently, tests of this aircraft are ongoing, during which the functioning of its systems is checked, as well as the operation modes of the second stage engine. The Ministry of Defense has repeatedly stated that the Su-57 was successfully tested in Syria.

The first serially-produced aircraft, which was supposed to be delivered by the Ministry of Defense at the end of December 2019, crashed near Khabarovsk during a test flight on December 24, the pilot managed to eject and survived.

After the incident, the Director General of the United Aircraft Corporation, Yuri Slyusar , told RIA Novosti that the results of the Su-57 crash commission would be used to improve this aircraft.

You're trolling farce, stealth is real deal, if not why they try to make Su-57 as stealth jet, why they didn't introduce another version of Su-27 family then:crazy::crazy::crazy::hitwall::hitwall::hitwall:

Stealth is fake. If America tech so good they can't save their own people from coronavirus.

You're stupid as a hell, then tell me why Russia trying to build Stealthy jet (Su-57), and what the fcuk what defense tech (aircraft manufacturing tech ) do to fight corona virus, you're reported for your baseless rants/trolls

Sweden says it built a Russian fighter jet killer — and stealth is totally irrelevant

Gripen pilots don’t like to show their cards by demonstrating the full power of the jet’s jamming in training. But the one time they did, it completely reversed the course of the mock battle in training, Bronk said.

“Several years ago the Gripen pilots got tired of being made fun of by German Typhoon pilots and came to play with their wartime electronic warfare and gave them a hell of a hard time,” Bronk said. One of the Gripens was “reportedly able to appear on the left wing of a Typhoon without being detected” by using its “extremely respected” jamming ability, Bronk said.

“It would be fair to assume the Gripen is one of the most capable electronic warfighters out there,” he said, adding that the Gripens that baffled the Typhoons were of the C/D series, which have much less powerful electronic-warfare capabilities than the E series Gripens that Helgesson described.

That said, Sweden is involved in 5th and 6th gen fighter development.

EW > Stealth.

Stealth is good for defense. Once advanced enemy ADS are involved, 'stealth only' becomes a problem.

Sweden is most technologically advanced country in the world. Nordics.

There is no stealth. It's marketing farce.

We tried to track f35 multiple times since 2010 it is stealthy it is a viable advantage. And we could never track f22 even though we know it flew above pakistani territory with permission and without .

Until we got new generation high band width latest gen radars from europe and china

Interesting! Any links where more can be read about this. Also the JY-27A anti-stealth radar at an airbase in Mianwali makes more sense now. Maybe Chinese are testing their radar technology.

Honestly everyone probably saw this coming.

I wouldn't say that EW > Stealth. I'd rather say that they complement each other. By the way, Saab has an exceptional record in the industry. I doubt many countries can emulate the success of Saab in radar, electronic warfare and aerospace electronic engineering.
