Understandable as any sovereign nation, will prefer that. However there is practicality too?Ukraine wants a decisive outcome, it does not want to be in a state of permanent anxiety over future Russian territorial ambitions. An exit plan which involves ceding 20% of its territory to Russia appears to be unacceptable to Ukraine and hence they haven’t lost their will to fight.
The reason am criticizing Zelensky is that, what he wants to achieve looks very much impossible at this point. Ukraine is being supported by entire West, yet they haven't been able to push Russians out till now. They have also suffered massive infrastructure destruction, which will take billions to rebuild. While he can't stop Russians from doing what they are doing, he certainly can find some middle ground to stop this bleeding of his nation. Him saying that peace can happen, only if Russia vacates Crimea is that even logical? He going high on rhetoric, and doesn't seem to have any action plan to achieve goals. It begins to feel like he doesn't want this war to end
Leave aside money and material, they are paying a heavy price men wise. When the dust settles (not sure when), generations to come will feel the effects of losing so many.
