What's new

Russian fighter jet makes multiple, close-range passes near US warship in Black Sea

Kiss me, honey, honey, kiss me
Thrill me, honey, honey, thrill me
Don't care even if I blow my top
But, honey, honey, don't stop
I'd like to play a little game with you
A little game especially made for two
If you come close then I will show you how
Closer, closer, now

Kiss me, honey, honey, kiss

A warning to yankees that we can sink any ship they send to the black sea within minutes:coffee:

And the US wouldn't respond with sensors, shootdowns, cruise missile strikes, and retaliatory attacks against the antique Russian surface fleet as well as their land based command centres and facilities? This is the same kind of mentality that Japan had before they got steamrolled.

. . .
The fighter appeared to be unarmed and never was in danger of coming in contact with the ship, said the official, who was not authorized to talk publicly by name about the encounter so spoke on condition of anonymity. The passes, which occurred in the early evening there, ended without incident.

It is just a normal thing. It is natural that Russians want to see whats going on with USS Donald Cook.
I bet it was a Su-24MR (dedicated tactical reconnaissance variant)! Thats the reason why the fighter seemed to be unarmed. In fact the Su-24MR has no weapons at all.

It's one thing to be curious but they tend to buzz a little crazily and things sometimes end badly.

crybaby america.

Did the us guns, radars, lasers, sats, microwaves, wifi, internet paint the Russian's jets? You bet NOT.

Well then you better do something quick because in a few years this will happen.
Raytheon showcasing the Air & Missile Defense Radar (AMDR) on board DDG 51 Flight III Destroyer

At the Navy League’s 2014 Sea-Air-Space Exposition, Raytheon is showcasing a scale model of a DDG 51 Flight III class destroyer fitted with the the new Air and Missile Defense Radar. The so called "AMDR" is currently under development for the U.S. Navy. AMDR’s radar suite consists of an S-band radar, an X-band radar, and a radar suite controller.
Under the contract, Raytheon will build, integrate and test the AMDR-S and RSC Engineering Development Models (EDMs). For the ship sets covered under this contract, the AMDR suite will integrate with the existing AN/SPQ-9B X-band radar. The base contract begins with design work leading to Preliminary Design Review and culminates with system acceptance of the AMDR-S and RSC engineering development models at the end of testing.
Speaking to Navy Recognition during Sea-Air-Space, Tad Dickenson (Raytheon's Program Manager Air and Missile Defense Radar) explained that the AMDR is over 30 times more powerful than the existing SPY-1 radar meaning it can put over 30 times more energy allowing to detect more targets, a lot further out. AMDR ranges about 2.5 times further compared to existing DDG 51 radar.

If I were Russia, would have not worried a out this oo much , the only proven success such systems in us navy had if I'm not wrong is against one ascending airbus a310

More importantly history have shown always offensive technology always have been one step ahead of the defensive one.

Of course...how could you build a defense against something that doesn't exist yet?

Yeah well you are not Russia. And based on Russia's response to our BMD, maybe they know something you don't. And they have the intelligence to see our tests in space and sky. Tests include shooting down planes, missiles, warheads, and satellites.

Russia will ‘React Sharply’ to US Aegis Ships – Deputy PM | Defense | RIA Novosti
MOSCOW, November 12 (RIA Novosti) – Russia will “react in the sharpest manner” to any US ships equipped with the Aegis combat system attempting to sail by its shores, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin told RIA Novosti in an interview.

Rogozin did not elaborate on Russia’s possible reaction, but lambasted the US missile defense system – part of which involves ships equipped with the Aegis integrated naval weapons system – for fuelling “an arms race.”

Rhetoric and warning signs apart, I think this was more or less a surveillance mission. The pilots were simply doing a recon mission there.
