Russian defence budget set to drop by 12%

Russian defence expenditure is set to fall by RUB371 billion (USD6 billion) by 2018 under new spending plans announced by the government. Total spending will fall from RUB3.1 trillion in 2016 to RUB2.728 trillion in 2018, a reduction of 12.0% in nominal terms.

The new spending plans were outlined in "The basic directions of budgetary policy for 2017 and the planning period of 2018 and 2019", published by the Russian Ministry of Finance (MoF) in October 2016. Based on current projections the expenditure on 'National Defence' will fall by 8.5% in 2017 to RUB2.836 trillion, and a further 3.8% to RUB2.728 trillion in 2017.

It wont have a single effect to our operations in Syria or Ukraine, some programs will be delayed by 2-3 years max, and once the budget deficit is closed by the year 2020 defense spending will grow again 100 % guaranteed, heck our economy will already start growing Q4 of this year.

No one can assure us that this numbers are true. This story could be a Russian propaganda maneuver to show the world how "pacific" they are. Why should Putin reduce the military spending? His hole propaganda is built on a powerful and effective military.

Economic reality.100$ oil vs 40$ oil and sanctions take a toll.In the end,this is not N Korea,they may be patriotic but pensions,public employees wages have to be payed.
