According to current plans the first fly should be in between December 2016 and February 2017. After this, at least a year of different fly tests and certification.

Anyway, some photos of PD-14. PD-14 is an optional engine for the MC-21. Trials and certification will be finished till the end of this year.

The use of electric drive allows aircraft to taxi without running the main engines that reduces fuel consumption by up to 4%, reduce engine maintenance cost and lower risk of engine foreign object damage while taxiing. Moreover the use of electric wheel drive allows the aircraft to pushback fully autonomously, which reduces waiting time and gate and apron congestion.

The main design features of aircraft Il-76MD-90A are as follows:

-The PS-90A-76 engines are installed;
-The new wing – long-size panels are used;
-The fuel system is modified for a new wing;
-The new “Kupol-III-76M” flight sight navigation system with a display indication is installed;
-The digital САУ-76 auto flight control system is installed;
-The КСЭИС-КН-76 aircraft status master monitor display system with 8 МФИs (multifunctional indicators) is installed to provide indication of aircraft systems parameters, those of pilot and navigation parameters and of САУ-76;
-The aircraft systems to provide installation of the PS-90A-76 engine and indication and control are modified;
-The APU TA-12A is installed

Using the state-of-the-art PS-90A-76 engines of the fourth generation makes it possible to increase significantly the operation efficiency of the aircraft due to:

The “glass cabin” principle has been realized in the aircraft. Eight multifunctional LC displays and three intelligent control panels have been installed in the cockpit. The glass cockpit provides for excellent view from the pilot and navigator work stations.
