Russian Air Force. Photos & Videos & Discussion

Unofficial sources said that today the Su-57 with the new engine, "izdeliye 30" made the first flight.

Excellent news. This is going to be a big year for T-50 since they are on schedule with the engine like they said, end of 2017.

Fascinating to see a single engine being tested on a prototype with a different 2nd engine, considering the drastic difference between the power of the two and the synchronizing issues. Really remarkable.

Russian bombers to be armed with new theatre-level missiles
(Piotr Butowski - IHS Jane's Missiles & Rockets)
"Russian sources in early December disclosed the designation ‘Kh-50’ for new Russian airborne theatre-level (substrategic) cruise missile. Purchases of production Kh-50 missiles are planned under Russia’s State Armament Programme for 2018–27 (GPV-2027)"

"Designed to fit in the weapon bays of the Tupolev Tu-22M3 theatre and Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers, the Kh-50 missile is about 6m (19.7 ft) in length – about 1.5 m (4.9 ft) less than the Kh-101 – and weighs around 1,600 kg (3,527 lb). Powered by an OMKB izdeliye 37-04 (or TRDD-50B) turbofan engine, the missile is expected to achieve a range of over 1,500 km (810 n miles), a cruise speed of 700 km/h (378 kt), and a maximum speed of 950 km/h (513 kt)."

The most interesting information is about new hipersonic missile (reverse translated to English by online translator):
"Another Russian development designed to operate in conditions of strong enemy air defense is a new tactical operational hypersonic missile developed jointly by the head enterprise of the Corporation Tactical Missile Arms Corporation in Korolev and the State MRC "Raduga" in Dubna as part of the program "Hypersonic guided missile "(GZUR). The military designation of this missile remains unresolved to date. According to reports, GZUR is a missile with a speed of M = 6 and with a range of 1500 km in flight by altitude profile. The length of the rocket is 6 m, and the weight is about 1500 kg. As you can understand, the missile has mainly anti-ship designation. The missile will be equipped with an air-jet engine "Product 70".
According to General-Colonel Zelin, Russia is now implementing a two-stage program for the development of hypersonic missiles. The first stage envisages the development by 2020 of a "compact operational and tactical aviation missile with a range of 1,500 km and a speed of 6 Mach"; this is the aforementioned GZUR. It should be supplemented in the next decade with weapons at a speed of M = 12, assuming a global range."
