SU-35 is great but I don't think PAF will consider this option.
1st due to PESA radar
2nd and more important due to problematic AL-31 engines.

It was mig-25 not mig-31 and PAF was ready to fire SA-2s as those could engage mig-25s but permission was not granted.

thanks for correcting mig name. for sure it was high altitude foxbat which our jets couldn't intercept.

if we go by your claim about deciding not to shoot despite having the capability then there is a possibility that this jet was sent to suss out our air defences in addition to trolling us internationally.

and by not turning on the SAM system we didnt give away our location. .
but this is not what I learned from my friends in PAF and Army. it appeared that even our SAMS were incapable to intercept a high altitude Jet cruising over Mach 2, but that is a discussion for another time and place.
here we are supposed to be getting FoxBat lookalike SU 35 which is being offered by Russia (for a change) otherwise its us going to west and being denied the jets. during Musharraf time we famously requested SU 27s but were refused.

as for paying for the jets? Iam guessing BBC Urdu is suggesting free jets. or maybe the Russians have free calenders and brouchers in mind when it comes to offering something (resembling) jets for free.

or better still. I think we will expect (demand) Chinese or Saudis to pay for it because we have blessed the Chinese with our neighborhood and blessed the Saudis by having their official faith as ours. Iranians we dont like because they never paid us and we are not so sure about their faith. (PS this is the usual line here.. what has Iran given us? Saudis give us so much so we must comply,,. I sometimes wonder if I should remind them that Americans have gifted us far more than entire Ummah and Chinese combined many times fold but then again hating on America is trending and why should I put a #targetme on my self.

PAF had issue with Mig-25 as there were no aircraft which can go higher and faster to intercept Mig-25s but SA-2s were capable of doing it but had limited range that is why a specific plan was put into place for certain situation, as Mig-25 were also flying with good tactics, PAF decided to use F-16 to push them in certain areas where SA-2s were able to take them down, due to those Mig-25 episodes PAF even went to evaluate return of F-104s to tackle Mig-25s.

PAF does need Su-35 type aircraft as we need long range birds to protect our EEZ.

Pakistan was able to fly F16 and C130s during sanctions, Pakistan will never get V upgrade, therefore, Pakistan should evaluate it as compared to J16, F15SA

if i am not mistaken weren't u the one who was so sure (owing to real inside news) that Pakistan will be getting Su35s? its like a year or two ago... i remember telling u bk than it aint happening and i still think it wont happen now... but the reasons are altogether different .... plus this is BBC crap news...

i think Su35 is using AL41 upgraded ones from AL31 base design... but we aint getting them anyways.

Su-35 would only be viable if the Russians allowed integration with the Chinese AESA radar thats on the J16. This would allow it to launch PL15s, and other chinese/domestic weapons. The PAF wouldnt need many to begin with 36-42.

for this reason alone I reject the "No twin jet"! philosophy and also reject the argument that we dont have the infrastructure for such jets (because if this argument becomes Gospel then we can rule out any other jet (Azm, KFX, TFXn future because, well, we dont have infrastructure for them).

Military sanctions are nothing, compared to the comprehensive economic sanctions to which I was referring. For example, who buys most Pakistani textiles?

And that was the 90’s, try bringing in a RLG to Pakistan from Israel today or buying spares from US. Your Pakistani contact will get picked up by the FBI within a matter of days.

Iran is flying F14s, challenges are there, european markets should be upgraded..

i dont thin there will be any sanctions on pakistan if it got Su35
