Looks like the ongoing Ukrainian counterstrike has flopped.

Ukraine needs a well-equipped Air Force, a large number of well-equipped HIMARS, and expanded air defense portfolio to turn the tide of war.

Depends on how you see it.

Ukraine had taken Robodyne, which mean they control the road in and out of Tokmak, to this, Ukraine has been trying to degrade the situation around Tokmak for months, looks like they are trying to repeat what happened to Kherson in Tokmak. Which is just inside the 40 click radius.

It really depends on whether or not Russia can counterattack that area, otherwise I am going to repeat what I said same time last year, Russia probably cannot hold on to Tokmak after the winter, and if they lose Tokmak, then that's very bad news for the Russian in 2024.

GOP, wants to increase defence spending where USA already spends more then the next 10 countries combined.


But GOP starts to whine about 1% GDP spending on ukraine (which gives them the opportunity to completely grind down their near peer adversary russia).

I mean, these are the people who think their fellow less wealthy citizens do not deserve basic healthcare or a roof over their head.
Yet now oh so concerned a penny is spent on Ukraine instead on the “us taxpayers”….

It's also worth notice that Dem control the senate floor. So the same game will probably be played in the senate when GOP try to pass some GOP friendly policy from Senate.

Its pandering to shortsighted nationalistic voters. Pure populism which endangers international peace but even american general interests.

Public support for Military aid for Ukraine now dropped to 43% because of rhetorics like that. Its like pre ww2 isolationalism again.

But worse, cause this time no grand effort is needed, but simply a meagre % of GDP. A sliver of defensive stocks (many created to “defend against the soviets” anyway)
Yet war-weariness is already setting in…

Enforcement of borders is useless when the problem is caused by people overstaying their visas.

Seems like illegal immigrants rose sharply under Bush (R) and declined under Obama (D).
Immigration to the US has nothing to do with the Russian illegal invasion.
GOP policy has everything to do with supporting the interests of Russia over the interests of the Free World. This is because a large part of the GOP opposes anything proposed by Democrats, regardless if it makes sense or not.

Ukraine has shown some good resolve when it comes to attacking the Russian naval fleet in the Black Sea

however the under water drones have failed to sink even commercial ships carrying oil for example the Sig tanker which was carrying aviation fuel for the Russian fighter jets stationed in Ukraine

it seems that a 300kg warhead is still unable to sink even commercial shipping and it maybe down to fact that the drones although are hard to detect the blast on the side of the ships sends the shock wave outward not actually causing that much damage and not sinking the ships

to really sink a warship at sea they need to let one of these under water drones off right below the middle of the hull so the blast is forced upwards splitting the ship in half

UUV have proved hard to detect but their effectiveness is questionable

The purpose is to sow doubts about funding Ukraine, with the goal of dwindling the funding of Ukraine. Then when Ukraine loses, the fake populists blame Ukrainians and supporters for fighting a war instead of surrendering to Russian demands/negotiating the annexation of parts of Ukraine. The fake populists want to be proven "correct", these individuals don't care about Ukraine. The fake populists want to tell you, "if you listened to me..." "I told you so". Therefore are for defunding Ukraine to be proven "correct".

Eventually the the warhead is probably being replaced with a lightweight torpedo being dumped when the target is within sight.
