Russia's state-controlled arms export company Rosoboroneksport announced Wednesday in a written statement that the company was discussing cooperation in arms production with its Turkish partners.

Rosoboroneksport' marketing department head Vladimir Goncharov said that the Turkish Ministry of Defense was interested in a "wide range of military equipment," especially Russian air defense systems.

"We are also discussing a number of technical partnership projects envisaging joint development and production of advanced weapons," he added.

The marketing department head also underlined that active negotiations with Turkish partners regarding the shipment of weapons and military equipment have been carried out since the end of 2016.

The written statement also said that business related meetings would be held with representatives of the Turkish government, the Turkish Armed Forces and arms industry on the sidelines of the upcoming International Defense Industry (IDEF'17) fair, which will be co-organized by Rosoboroneksport with a joint Russian display in Istanbul between May 9 and 12.

Interesting development, but do we need Russians beside long range SAM? They are offering Mig, we are going for F35. I think Tuaf will never go for the big Migs. What else can they offer?

This is possible only when Turkey leaves NATO or Russia joins NATO. Not a bad idea, i would support joint development and manufacture of export versions of defence products.

We can coproduce su-35, not Mig-29.We can learn a lot of things from Su-35.
