Russia to Sell 127 FGFA fighter aircrafts to India

Thats what, something is fishy.

Yea, has to be.
This deal is suppose to be a 25 BILLION dollars, How can it be signed without a high-profile minister? Without MEDIA???
A deal like this cant be a hush-hush deal.

.
it effectively ends any chance of Su35. @Abingdonboy Isn't it?
There was never any chance of that except in some fanboys' minds bro.

+ we shouldn't take this news seriously, it is pure BS.

here is a devil theory, could it be that India is actually pitting Russia against France to battle out for Indian Fighter segment and challenge them to take whatever share they can by providing better plane quickly, Considering there is limited space and budget for both machines in India.
This doesn't make sense mate because the FGFA and Rafale are NOT competitors and never have been- they will both serve in large numbers inside the IAF. The ordering of one will not come at the cost of the other- end of story.

What is the advantage of Shaft drive over Podded props ?

Apart from the obvious different in the kind of fuels that drives both, One would think Podded prop is way better on ships where space is of premium.

It,s time for pakistan to acquire a stealth technology as well because without it we stand no where in the next indo pak air war.

That would not preclude Mistrals being built in an Indian yard. Although I've read recently that IN would require major redesign as it wants a traditional shaft + propellor rather than podded props. But the French yard has indicated that would not be a problem.
yes that will not prelude Mistral from being built in India, but my question against the already build Mistral by France for Russia which will now seems impossible to be delivered.

Of course not, the Russians haven't bothered to show any sort of respect to India in this regard until now. Had it been the F-35 India had signed up for at least you would have seen the Indian flag alongside all the other partner nations in all their publications.

To be honest, its mainly a Russian project, India is just providing SOME/PART OF the finance. So obviously the Russians wont want to share their best tech with India(maybe a downgraded version, but not the cutting egde ones). So its understandable for Russia to want to keep its fighter jet tech privately. India has to understand Russian concerns and take whatever Russia says, since India has no other choice, as the west/U.S wont agree to share all their best/cutting edge tech with India as wel, at least the Russian agree to transfer some(though not the main ones) tech to India in this project. So though im not a fan of Russia, i dont blame them o thi one, India has to count on itself first and foremost, instead of always expecting everything from Moscow on a silver plate as far as they pay some money. EXPECT NOTHING FROM OTHERS AND YOU WILL NEVER BE DISSAPOINTED.8-)

Mark my words SU-35S too has a bigger role in this. FGFA is confirmed true but Su-35S is going to be the trump card for IAF and Russians. Russians not ordering more FGFA can only mean one thing, they have a better weapon in place. They don't care about the money, this is Russia we are talking about. Ample natural resources. These closed doors meeting were surely not for FGFA. Su-35S will not only be IAF's future air superiority fighter but also would help revamp our existing MKI's to super sukhoi configuration. Reason why Su-35s will be a frontline fighter could be costs . FGFA is too costly and Modifications to existing Su-35 airframe with improved avionics and AESA would prove less costly. Maybe we can ever expect naval versions of Su-35S (rather than FGFA) with an improvised air frame that would support catapult launched systems.

Rafale is sitting duck against J-20 which comes online in 2017. That's why IAF cancelled Rafale and go for PAK-FA.

No dude, they are broke.

They expected India to foot its development bill, which thankfully we didn't.

They are getting 12 coz they are gonna induct it. And it is gonna cost a bomb to service a new untested fleet of 50 planes than just a dozen plane.

Buying them is easy. Remember, they don't know yet how much it's gonna cost to maintain 1 sqd of it. That is what they are finding out with a initial batch of 12.

My 2 cents.

PAK FA is junk.

Please, as if you know anything about the pak-fa or aviation in general

Russia is pathetic only buying 12, like a poor peasant

No, it's not, that is only the initial batch for testing and training. What is pathetic is that you are so gullible and utterly clueless.

Also, the plural of aircraft is aircraft, NOT aircrafts. OP is a retarded idiot with poo for brains.

@Oscar If you go through his posts you will find many such posts.

china is going to buy 5,000 J 20s and J 31s

Russia to Sell 127 FGFA fighter aircrafts to India

Russia has signed a contract with India to provide them with 127 Fifth Generation Fighting Aircraft (FGFA), an aircraft designed on the Russian PAK FA 5th generation multirole fighter aircrafts. The contract is evaluated at more than $25 billion Euros.

The news comes at a good time since the Russian Armed Forces dramatically decreased its PAK FA order due to economical issues. The original order was 52 T-50 but was reduced to 12. Russia will instead concentrate on 4++ generation fighters such as the Sukhoi Su-30 and the Su-35.

Russia will deliver its first FGFA in 36 months instead of the previous estimation of 94 months. After the first batch built in Russia, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will takeover the production under transfer of technology.

The FGFA will be a two-seater fighter instead of a one-seater for the T-50. The FGFA will also be armed with Indian-made Astra, a beyond-visual-range missile (BVR). An additional 43 improvements such as stealth, supercruise, sensors, networking and combat avionics will be applied to the FGFA.

India was considering buying 126 French Rafale but only 36 will join the Indian Air Force. Modi and Putin met last December and spoke about the non-delivery of the Mistral LHD due to the ongoing Ukrainian conflict. India have turned its back on France due to the failed delivery of the Mistral LHDs to Russia. That said, India also has concerns on the future delivery of Rafale parts based on the possibility of having the United States putting pressure on France to limits its exportation to India.

We can say Putin got his revenge on France’s decision to not deliver the Mistral.

Russia is also the oldest and most important military partner of India. Both countries have cooperated on many military projects, including the FGFA. The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi told Russian President Vladimir Putin that India would keep Russia has its primary partner in defence materiel.

The first FGFA are planned to be operational in 2016.

India is currently spending more than $40 billion on defence annually (1.84% of its GDP) and holds the 9th rank when it comes to military spending. India is also the world’s largest weapon’s importer.

The $25 billion Euros deal will likely bolster an already solid relationship between India and Russia.
