Russia to Sell 127 FGFA fighter aircrafts to India

Something sure is going on. let us wait and watch coz till now there hasn't been a single reaction from India.
& the timing too is perplexing, DM is on visit to Korea and PM has just returned, normally when you have such announcements to make, usually it is preceded by some official discussion (maybe in form of some top official from one country visiting another). I therefore cannot make out if it is a unilateral offer from Russia to India or culmination of some on-going efforts or effect of Rafale fighters being brought (it effectively ends any chance of Su35. @Abingdonboy Isn't it?).
@vostok Can you please confirm this news and is there any similar reports in local Russian Media?

I it take has PM making a point here . If true. There has been lots of criticism that he s not staying in India . In his absence lots have taken place. Which shows that govt works in his absence too . Petrol price came down in his absence which is directly controlled by govt . So this might be true as it comes from Russian official twitter account .

.
But yes Namo and MP looks to pull another rabbit out of the hat surely as a surprise
if they do, i would believe they can walk on water too.
after almost about a decade of talk and speculations, they would've managed to Grand deals in space of a month or so.
Call me a pessimistic, but i'm not used to this kind of decision making (at break neck speed), especially from our government and i therefore will keep my fingers crossed.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
here is a devil theory, could it be that India is actually pitting Russia against France to battle out for Indian Fighter segment and challenge them to take whatever share they can by providing better plane quickly, Considering there is limited space and budget for both machines in India.

A very strong possibility
You see 36 rafale is to be signed within 90 days. So that 90 days expiry is just before NaMo visit in July. I believe it can be a possibility that its price and Make In india pressure tactic to say we gave you 90 days to come with t possibility or else come july i am meeting Putin Bhai and will do some chai pe charcha or kremlin me charcha (ideally it shud be vodka me charcha but NaMo does nt drink)

Either way if its confirmed by more sources perhaps when GOI MOD spokeperson confirms (or denies ) it will be concretize our views

I agree with that. PM has lot of responsibilities but doesn't mean he has to look into every micro-detail, thats what his cabinet and bureaucracy is for.

Sir,I dont think India will opted for Mistral. There are two main reason, first it will irritate Russia and second one India already looking for homemade LHD (under "Make in India" campaign). so, buying ready made LHD(thoght its one of the best) doesn't give any decisive advantage as like Rafael which required on urgent basis.
That would not preclude Mistrals being built in an Indian yard. Although I've read recently that IN would require major redesign as it wants a traditional shaft + propellor rather than podded props. But the French yard has indicated that would not be a problem.

What is the advantage of Shaft drive over Podded props ?

Apart from the obvious different in the kind of fuels that drives both, One would think Podded prop is way better on ships where space is of premium.

PAK FA is junk.

Russia is pathetic only buying 12, like a poor peasant

Also, the plural of aircraft is aircraft, NOT aircrafts. OP is a retarded idiot with poo for brains.

I laught at India only buying 127 pak fa

china is going to buy 5,000 J 20s and J 31s

No, we build our own versions of Su-27s and Su-30s. Plus J20s, JF 17s, J 31s and J 20s.

India only build shitty Tejas which is worse than a flying pig and lower tech than a skoda

.
What do they mean they will sell it? Wasn't India so called partner in the FGFA program? (T-50 being Russian, and hence using technologies and design from there?)

IN has a certain familiarity and comfort level with Shafted Propulsion rather than Azipods. Another reason is likely to be cost and ease of maintenance. However the redesign, while not problematic will make for a larger Machy. space.

Not own version only cheap copy for their jet.
