MOSCOW, August 06. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia will propose Turkey to boost fruit and vegetable supplies to Russia to replace the now banned imports from Poland and Moldova, chief of Russian phytosanitary watchdog Sergey Dankvert said on Wednesday.
Poland and Moldova used to be Turkey’s strong competitors, Rosselkhoznadzor chief said ahead of the meeting with deputy head of the Turkish agricultural ministry’s food and control directorate.
Turkey was able to quickly increase supplies of produce, primarily drupes, to Russia, Dankvert added, as there were no licensing procedures. The talks will be held on August 8, he said.
On August 1, the watchdog banned fruit and vegetable import from Poland and Moldova because of numerous quarantine pests detected.
