Russia to lease another Nuclear Sub to India in December

. . . . .
I think Parrikar will sign during his trip to Russia.

No. Parrikar will set-up the groundwork, but I believe the deals will be signed when Modi visits Russia. I am expecting nuclear submarine deal, T-90MS modernization, Super Su-30MKI modernization, and potential S-400 triumf. Russia has been looking to sign a number of big ticket deals and come out looking strong to the world and its people, despite inflation worries and a shrinking economy. Given this, I hope we bargain hard and get as much as possible out of the Russians while they are in sanctions mode.

India getting nuclear help from east and the west without signing mandatory treaty.
Can u believe that?? No one in the World is complaining.

If the West sanction India, then they simply buy from the East, and then the West loses out on enormous profits, something they are unwilling to do, and vice versa. Money comes first.

First this is a never ending lease.. IN will keep on extending lease as much it can serve us :D

Secondly no one will complain.. why? Becoz its a lease.. your not allowed to sale Nuclear tech .. Second india is a huge arms market .. so huge that even US cant ignore..

.
But the real question is,during times of any possible hostility, can the Indian Navy use this sub to engage enemy combatants or is it purely for training purposes??
The "lease" is in name only to get around certain international restrictions on this type of system being sold to non-MTCR members, for all intense and purposes the IN will own both SSNs and it is likely they will never be returned to Russia.

And what of the two most critical deals- FGFA and MRTA?

FGFA is the most crucial deal to be decided on priority during next 2 months, most probably during modi visit in first week of December

FGFA is very important for the fighter fleet but one cannot ignore (as many are) the importance of the MRTA for the transport fleet. The An-32s are not going to live forever (in fact it looks like their lifespan could be prematurely cut short by the Ukrainian crisis) and once they start becoming unserviceable the backbone of the IAF's tactical airlift fleet (and airlift capacity as a whole) is broken. The C-130J-30s and C-17s might be the most eye-catching types in the transport fleet but the An-32 is the unsung hero and it needs a suitable replacement to make up for the vast numbers of An-32s in service (over 100).

No MRTA and the IAF is going to be in a $hitstorm a decade from now.

Not just that, next lease extension cost will be cheaper as well.

There is a possibility that India may go for 3rd sub of this class, one of the unfinished hull...Named Iribis..
