It is common practice to insert clauses that leave outs for one party or the other into international contractural agreements. War, natural distasters, or anything that would hinder the fullfilment of the contract. And I will bet you anything In international law UN sanctions trump commercial contracts.

The resolution did not say russia had to cancel the deal, and it certainly did not say you cant sell defensive weapons to iran, the main point here is that russia agreed on the sanctions on iran, now how can you place sanctions on iran when there in no EVIDENCE ? so the question is if russia really was irans 'friend' then why would they backstabb iran..

However this is good news for iran, it means they have to stand on their own feet and create their own air defense system, something which they are working on. besides the iran would need the s-400 not the s-300 since its better and newer.
