This is an ignorant comment, the Turks have downed an unarmed bomber which they apologized for later. There is virtually no modern war without aircraft losses. The Turks also had several aircraft downed in Syria. The Arab coalition lost over a dozen over Yemen. The US lost dozens in Iraq and thousands in Vietnam including to Russians. By your logic Russia should just declare war on Israel because of its underhanded tactics right? What a brilliant idea especially when Russia have several small bases right next to Israel which would get destroyed.

In 2001 a Chinese aircraft crashed after it collided with a US aircraft, I missed the part where China started shooting down US aircraft in retaliation.

all the systems work together, with the 150km range of the s-300 it will be much harder for israel to attack syria with ALCM

That is why any sane government will have multiple air defenses protecting their vital air defenses, including Portable SAMs. As far as I read, the latest stinger missiles can bring down old stock cruise missiles. Just be on high ground and give proper warning to the soldiers, it will be hard to hit because of the speed, not because any big deficiency in the stinger. You have to overload the wave attack with enough defenses. One S-300 unit can be knocked out pretty quick if it is left alone. There is safety in numbers.

S300 is only a part of the equation. Su-35 CAP is far more efficient. I can see F-16 downed and pilots captured either in Lebanon or in Syria. Will be very embarassing.

Here what actually happened. On 21:40 Israeli F-16 bombed targets in Latakia and returned back. Russian Il-20 was located over Jisr ash Shuhjur then.

At 21:50, 10 minutes after Israeli F-16s left Syrian air defences opened fire into empty place and kept firing till 22:40
At 22:03, 23 minutes after Israeli F-16 left Syrian air defence shot down Russian Il-20 which entered that area.

So we have 2 imbeciles here:
1) Syrians who fired nearly a hour into an empty place.
2) Russians who sent their Il-20 under the massive fire of Syrian air defence.

In order to cover their stupidity Russians made up 3 different lies less than a week:

1) French frigate fired missiles.
2) Israeli F-16 bombed targets at 22:00, when Il-20 was landing.
3) Israeli F-16 bombed targets at 21:40, but for unknown reason remained in the area for a hour after the bombing under the massive fire of Syrian SAMs.

Only an imbecile will buy their lies.
