Well after decades of friendship , that involve buying over billions of dollars of weaponry if Russia stayed Neutral , I would consider it an absolute diplomatic failure for India.
In the past few years Indo Russia relationship has been dented severely esp after India's romance with US. Which is very evident in the context of Afghanistan.
In contrast China has always been very focal for Pakistan on international stage, even unnecessary at times.
