Which radar is better in range...?

Aesa(Zhuk)or pesa(Bars->currently in MKI)

I think Bars has range of 350
but Zhuk has only 120Km'

but if we replace Bars with Zhuk,wat will happen to bars radar....

My idea is to equip half Mki with Zhuk and let another half have the current BARS only..so that the half removed BARS can be used as spares....

AESA is hard to jam,can track and engage more targets at a time,
and i guess there is some think called detection range and tracking range ? both are different.
350 km of bars is detection range(i guess we will come to know presence of enemy but can't track them continuously at that range).

RCS has significant value in air combat. but if u have long range BVRs then this disadvantage can be nullified. for example f-15 has got zero combat loss all due to its better tadar and BVR missiles.

Let them face Chinese Airforce(if they ever did). Then we will analyze results.

RCS reduction is not needed on Su-30MKI. IAF doesn't want to use it in stealth role as primary.

But simple RCS reduction will help to reduce the detection range by big margin. I think MKI already has RAM coating so if we increase the amount of composite materials and new advanced RAM coating developed for PAK FA will make it an ultimate beast.

BTW read some where that Russian offering Zhuk-AE AESA radar for MKI.

when did US fight a war with IRAN? so why bring iran into this. last time i checked, in 1991 IRAQ had a pretty decent airforce of consisting of Mirage F1 , mig 29s. IRAQ lost the war on first day itself wen its radar sites were taken down by cobras. from then on it was uphill task.

now if u analyse, the RCS of aircraft on both sides. RCS of american planes, F-111, F-15 etc was much greatre then RCS of smaller mig planes. but still then won because of better avionics and missiles.

one word of advice, stop making off the cuff comments.

So, what SAM network Iraq had? Was it comparable to latest in market?

Elephant can fight and defeat rats. Its easy and nothing to boast about.

If US was fighting NK(with better SAM network), then it will be interesting to see the success ratio of F-15, F-111 or whichever RCS it claims. Though, I don't think US will attack NK and make China angry.

Bars AESA upgrade is on offer, just like Zhuk AE, I think it's a competition, similar to Mig 29 upgrade, where Bars 29 and Zhuk ME was proposed.
