What's new

Russia may sell three Project 11356 frigates to India

And the IN will need to replace 13 Veer class corvettes (1987-1997: 11 units. 2002: 2 units) plus 4 Abhay class corvette (4 units, 1989-1991). My, what a conincidence, that is 17 vessels. With the current 4x Kamorta replacing 4x P25 Khukri, the 6 next generation missile vessels replace the 4x P25A Khoras.

Minor surface combattants (under 3000 ton)
13+4+4+4=25 ships out
4+16+6=26 ships in
net fleet expansion = 1
Any more questions?
Kora class are commissioned in 1998 & 3 in 2002 which means these have life till 2030 except these I think all will be replaced before 2020, so NGMVs may not replace these.
I think deadline for all these plans seems 2020 except 8 P28A(follow on Kamortas).
As we know work on ASW Shallow Water Craft by GSRE may start in 2016, as tenders for NGMV was passed in Jan'15 & we may see clearance on NGMVs in 2016 & all may be commisisoned around 2020.
So before 2026 we may see 8 P28As & some other...???

1x1998, 2x2001 and 1x 2004. These are not equipped for ASW, though they can refuel and possibly rearm a helicopter. Just like their predecessors of the Khukri class.

Is there anything firm to support the notion of 8 p28A are actually forthcoming?
