Russia may sell air defense systems, helicopters to Saudi Arabia

Russia is close to sign new contracts with Saudi Arabia on the export of helicopters and air defense missiles systems in addition to recent arms deals with Riyadh, state-run arms exporter Rosoboronexport said on Monday.
“Rosoboronexport has already signed a number of big contracts [with Saudi Arabia], and they are being implemented,” deputy head of Rosoboronexport Alexander Mikheyev said at the Dubai-2011 airshow. He did not specify the ongoing agreements with Saudi Arabia.
“We have also done intensive work on new contracts, including on helicopters and air defense systems. Russia is ready to continue these negotiations as soon as the Saudi Defense Ministry makes a decision," Mikheyev said.
Russia has been negotiating a $6 bln-arms deal with Saudi Arabia since 2007.
The “arms package” reportedly includes T-90S main battle tanks, BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles, Mi-35 (Hind) attack helicopters, and Mi-17 (Hip) multirole helicopters, as well as Pansir-S1 air defense systems.

Several media sources have also mentioned that Russia could sell advanced S-300 or even S-400 air defense missile systems to Saudi Arabia.
Potential arms sales to Saudi Arabia would be a major breakthrough for Russia, as the Saudi arms market has been controlled by the United States and Britain since the Soviet era.

T-90S Tanks yes we ordered 150 already and might increase it to 500 soon but the new deal states that the next 500 T-90s will be built in country. We already received 30 Mi-17s of the total 150 Helicopters we ordered but this seems to be a new package and the S-400 hasn't been finalized yet though. The BMP-3 we already agreed to build our own version of it but the factory for it and possibly the T-90 later is still under construction and won't finish till Q3 next year.

you once said we are holding deals with US just because of Palestinian recognition in UN issue.So that they don't veto.

Yes people close to me in the military said King Abdullah personally is swinging the 90 Billion arms deal to the US as an advantage to not veto the Palestinian vote he so far has ordered the F-15 deal to be scrapped and the current C/D F-15s we have refurbished to increase their service life as of now.

We are pushing for the S-400 but the Russians are reluctant because they haven't completed the Russian military order yet for it which has always been a Russian and previously soviet policy to not sell equipment until you are full of it yourself. The Russians are trying to sell the S-300 so far but we want the S-400.

Even if Russia agrees to sell its S-400, you won't get it until 2017 at the earliest because of two reasons.

1. Replacing all the S-300 with S-400 remains a top priority for the Russian Military, the days of Russia only exporting its best weapons and not buying it are over.

2. S-400 production is very slow, so slow that Almaz-Antey is building two new factories too speed up production and they won't be completed until 2015.

life is more precious then any king of equipment those who came to fight in afghanistan in 80's and gave their lives they were poor middle and rich persons many went back to their families and many buried in afghanistan.

U can't understand these issues so don't put pressure in ur mind plz

however i don't think they will give us those equipments but for sure pakistanies and saudies will exchanges many useful info though
