Russia lifts embargo on weapons supplies to Pakistan

.
This lift will only benefit us in case of RD-93 engines for our JF-17 or may be going for improved avionics for block-II

I was wondering what happened to those, I think a couple of years ago we made a deal for the T-129 with Turkey? what happened to all that

Lack of funds and that chopper is too costly for us

like seriously, I'm really seriously asking you don't think that it was an Inside Job?

No I trust Interpol and intelligence agencies like MI6, French DGSE rather than bullshit youtube and if like you claim it was a inside job why did Saudi Arabia deport one of the 26/11 key operative? why did Pakistan raid the militant camp in Azad Kashmir and why is there a trial going on now in Pakistan? why did a French journo in Pakistan find Kasab's family? why was satellite recordings intercepted between the handlers and the pawns?

Putin I always respected to be a man of his words and he said he will not sell 'offensive' weapons to Pakistan while he was in India but if Russia does sell these attack helicopters it will be a bit of a shock for India to say the least.

That's because they need new partnerships, most of their middle-east influence is gone. They will do what is in their interest.

I do agree that right now they are seeking hard cash and Pakistan still has a pretty large defence budget plus you get Russian engines anyway that used on the JF17 but Putin's interview in India stated he will not sell 'offensive weapons' to Pakistan this is why for us Indians we feel it is a bit of a kick in the teeth 'if' these helicopters were sold by the Russians.

But in my view they will not sell anything too threatening as they know India still is the biggest buyer of Russian arms and we are working on joint projects now instead of a buyer/seller arrangement.

There is a RT blog on this subject asking why is Russia lifting the arms embargo with Pakistan? I am reading this now

Afghanistan seems to be a key issue for Russian strategic thinking post 2014 when NATO leaves and that could be another factor in this.

Afghanistan is going to be the cornerstone for not only Russians, but Chinese and the US as well. No country can bring these three together other than Pakistan, since Pakistan enjoys a large clout in Afghanistan affairs, plus US itself has said Pakistan is vital to any dealings with Afghanistan. We have been dealing with Afghans for over a half century now, they have cultural links to our north west and without us their trade would be meaningless. Like i said, big states think about their own interests. It doesn't matter what India thinks. India can buy weapons from them, fine. But if India refuses to buy from them, then most of your armed forces capability is at stake. Russians only lose the $$$, where are Indians going to go to keep their soviet/russian equipment running? India needs Russia more than Russia needs India. Just because Russia intends to sell equipment to Pakistan, doesn't mean India is going to say we cancel this deal or that. It will hurt you more.

India has made inroads in Afghanistan too and won big mining contracts as has China. Pre 9/11 the Russians, Iranians and Indians backed the NA and only 3 countries recognised the Taliban they were UAE, Saudi's and Pakistan. Nobody know's what will happen post 2014 I been hearing all kinds of noises but if the Karzai govt continues to be as corrupt as it has been than yes the Taliban will gather more support from the masses. If Iran and India invest in the port we can use that to trade with Afghanistan directly which will be a big game changer too.

India will not refuse to buy from Russia but it is not going to be a single horse race anymore and it will be many countries fighting for defence contracts with Russia like Israel, USA etc so we can get the best possible deal. But when it comes to key defence projects there is only Russia to turn to like Brahmos, Pak-FA etc. No western country would ever give India such weapons it is just not in their interest. I think Russia does need India as much as we need them because we still the number 1 arms importer and Russia still makes up 70% of our military imports and losing contracts will hurt their arms industry.

That's why i said Russia needs your money, but you need the equipment which you can't source from anywhere. While they will have financial difficulties, you will have massive operational difficulties. So you lose out more.

About India in Afghanistan, that's a separate topic. India cannot have influence over there since Pakistan is already there. This fake resources propaganda is just there so India can stir up trouble in Pakistan's border areas. Considering the aggressive posture by Pakistan in recent days, Afghans will have to make up their mind. India vs Pakistan in Afghanistan is just going to cause more instability, nothing else.

So we should expect some weapons deals to take place that is good thing we can get transport and attack helicopters

Most likely no attack helicopters, only additional MI-17's and improved RD93's with more thrusts. Except to see the T-129 soon in PA's colours, procuring and setting up a new attack helicopter from Russia is too big of an investment with lots of risks.

. .
Russia will sell you the weapons = True
Partially Made by us = True
To Destroy us= False --> We are the suppliers dude...
Well, good luck putting kill switches in those door handles, engine covers and petty little things that are outsourced to you guys.

Mission ACCOMPLISHED :D

Russia has lifted an embargo from supplies of weapons and military hardware to Pakistan and is negotiating the delivery of several helicopter gunships Mil Mi-25 to the country, head of Russian state-run technologies corporation Rostec Sergey Chemezov said on Monday.

"The decision was taken and we are negotiating the delivery of helicopters," he said.

The Rostec head noted that choppers Mi-35 were on agenda of talks.

No Ataks? :(

Pakistan won't be acquiring any attack helis from Russia. As i previously repeated, most likely additional MI-17's and improved versions of RD-93. PA will procureT-129 as its next generation attack helicopters. It simply does not make any sense to acquire and create new infrastructure for a Russian based attack heli because Russia is not considered a reliable partner.
