ASTANA, April 11. /TASS/. Russia’s missile defense system is a shield for the countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organizations (CSTO), Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev said in an interview with the Mir-24 television channel on Tuesday.

"We benefit much. First, it is easier to ensure defense collectively than do it by oneself. This fact is irrefutable. Second, I would be straight - this is a shield, which is ensured, first of all, by Russia’s capabilities of missile defense," he said when asked about his country’s benefits from its membership in the CSTO.

"We have common border troops," he said, adding that during joint exercises the two countries discuss "common threats of drug trafficking, terrorism, external interference into our states under the color revolution scenarios."

The Kazakh leader also said that the two countries cooperate in training military personnel. "In conditions of the collective security treaty, we supply each other with weapons on easy terms. And, of course, Russia’s system of arms manufacture dominates," he added.

BISHKEK, April 12. /TASS/. Nearly 20 air force and about 40 air defense units constitute the combined system of the CIS air defense, the chief of the Russian Aerospace Force Staff, First Deputy chief of the Aerospace Force Commander Lieutenant General Pavel Kurachenko told the media on Wednesday.

"At the moment the combined air defense of the CIS member-states consists of 19 aviation units, 38 air defense missile units, 15 radio-technical units, nine air defense brigades and three radioelectronic warfare units.

"The available forces and means are enough for coping with air defense tasks, but they can be built up further, if need be," Kurachenko said.

Within the framework of the combined air defense system Kazakhstan receives air defense weapons, Kyrgyzstan has upgraded communication systems, Tajikistan has received air defense planes and technologies, and Armenia and Belarus, spare parts.

"I rate positively the effectiveness of the system of military and military-technical cooperation to upgrade and develop the combined air defense system of the CIS," Kurachenko added.

The commanders of CIS air defenses and air forces are due to meet in the near future. There will be a meeting of specialists responsible for using a unified system of radar identification and a joint training session.

The coordinating committee for air defense affairs under the CIS Defense Ministers’ Council will hold two sessions.

Well.
Russia must get rid of V.Putin. It is not about him, but about a system he represent
Yeah, he made alot of progress. He stop Russia from further destruction. He made Russia great power again. From 2005-2009 Russians has biggest living standard then ever. But with corruption, nepotism, and without long term economic plan. He played good role in Russian history and maybe in 50-100 years, he will be remembered like second Alexander II.
But lets take a history lesson.

When Russia defeated Tatars, Ivan III realized that he must expand territory to make Russia safe. He made it
When Russia start to fall behind all European countries, Peter I realized he must modernize Russia to keep it safe and place Russia among leading European states.
When Russia was only feudal great power in the world. Joseph Stalin realized he must industrialize to make Russia great power again. And he made it to.

I just take an example of three greatest Russian leaders in their history to make my further point legit.

Vladimir Putin, back in 2000, realized that he must cooperate with other post imperial European countries for benefit interest, he made Russia great power again, not on same scale like Peter and Joseph Russia. But lets say respectfull again.
But Vladimir Putin cant realize that in future, hard power and military will not play a crucial role it will be economy and soft power. So if he cant realize that, he must be replaced with another visionar. Simply as that.

With him in power, Russia will never acquire again such sphere of influence like in the Tsarist or Soviet times.

MOSCOW. June 23 (Interfax) - Russian Federation Council Defense and Security Committee head Viktor Ozerov said he is in favor of servicemen from Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) countries such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan helping to monitor the de-escalation areas in Syria.

"Russia, Turkey and Iran agreed during the establishment of the de-escalation areas that a procedure for maintaining security in these territories would be determined by these three countries involving servicemen from other states," Ozerov told Interfax on Friday.

"If it is not Turkey's initiative, if it is not its wishful thinking, and, as far as I understood, this initiative does not belong to Turkey alone, in this case sending servicemen of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan to Syria would certainly become a positive signal on several tracks," the Russian senator said.

When asked which other CSTO countries could take part in monitoring the de-escalation areas in Syria, Ozerov mentioned Tajikistan.

"Tajikistan could do it, but it is only theoretical reasoning at this point," he said, adding that there were no concrete agreements on sending Kazakh or Kyrgyz troops to Syria either.

"Increasing the number of countries present in Syria would match the main principle articulated by Russia, namely the need to establish a broad anti-terrorism coalition," he said.

"In essence, it will be a peacekeeping operation with the participation of CSTO member countries. In such a way, servicemen from countries that are signatories to this treaty will gain experience in maintaining security in certain territories," Ozerov said.

Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are predominantly Muslim countries, and, consequently, "they are well familiar with Muslims' customs and traditions and will look at the local population through this prism," he said.

"If such a decision is made, it will be received positively," Ozerov said.

Turkish media outlets said on Thursday, citing the Turkish president's assistant Ibrahim Kalin that Turkey and Russia could deploy their servicemen in Syria's Idlib governorate as part of the agreement on setting up de-escalation areas in Syria. According to this information, Russia also suggested sending Kyrgyz and Kazakh servicemen to Syria.

Kazakh Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov on Friday denied reports that negotiations are under way on sending Kazakh servicemen to Syria. Kyrgyzstan also denied this information.
