Not a month goes by that I don't think to myself maybe I should have taken the management track instead of engineering. The business analysts and project managers seem to spend all day chatting in coffee houses, charging meals to expense accounts, and generally having fun while engineers are doing the actual work. On top of it all, they make more money than engineers.

I once worked for Singtel. Whole bunch of "Emperor New Clothes" manager who BS all the way in serious technical discussion, pretending to understand what their SI, underlings are talking.

Those underlings BS and talk like a sage babbling some ridiculous jargon worse than those you see in String Theory, or quantum mechanic. In short everyone are lying to managers. Managers are lying among themselves.

Managers pretend to ask questions, nod approving and pretend to talk intelligently.

I often debunk their stupidity and become a markman.

Basically these MBAs dont care. They just gang up, hire stupid people, promote stupid people. When things fail, they will quickly scapegoat someone. They will do their best to kick out all engineering functions.

US exports agricultural products, chips, oil and airplanes to China while China exports a whole range of industrial and agricultural products including big ones like machinery, electrical machinery, electronics, high tech products, sports equipment and furniture. Vietnam is the country that exports its largest share of exports as shoes compare to others to USA. Are you on drugs as usual when you speak of China ? China only exported $8.7 billion worth of shoes to US in 2020. And China exported total $452.58 Billion worth of products to US during 2020.

The west can not completely sanction Russia because they found its natural resources are irreplaceable. Lately Washington warned that the west will sanction China if it refuse to sanction Russia. Will that happen? Don't think so. Because China has rarer resource, human resources. Russia's natural resouces are somehow replaceable in the long run, regardless all costs the west world has to pay. China's human resources is by no means to be replaced by, not a single country, but the rest world combined.

Population scale doesn't matter. Only well educated, disciplined, well trained people are human resources. India is the NO.1 population country now. For cultural, political and many other reasons, India's human resources scale is far more smaller than China. 1/3 at best. And the productivity of Indian human resources is not good enough. One obvious example that can prove China is irreplaceable is the STEM graduates number each year. Which is bigger than US+EU+India+Japan combined. From labor intensive factories to cutting edge research centers, High quality, large number Chinese labor force covers all known industries. And Based on that, China has formed numerous industry chain clusters. Which makes other countries harder to compete with China in products quality and quantity.

US is bluffing. 100% sanctions to China like US did to Russia is not possible. Making 20% sanctions is possible. But US has already implemented 15% sactions to China in recent years. There is no much room left for US to blackmail China.

… and for that reason US is propping up India. Boat load India STEM students, graduates and skilled workers are entering US every month to not only help US labour market but also to get spun up on American technology and go back help Indians compete with Chinese. Same thing that Chinese did once.

I don't know enough about jet engines, except that civilian jet engines are a lot harder to make because they need to be reliable over longer lifetimes. A military pilot can eject, worst case, but a civilian jet engine needs to work flawlessly day in and day out for decades.

They are all designed to be able to operate safely even with just a single engine. Yes it will need to divert to the nearest airport but there is no risk to the plane from 1 engine failing in flight.

If China truly wanted to, they could have gone all out and made sure the 1990s tech. WS-20 was ready by now to allow the C919 to fly with a domestic engine from the start, but not only would it use too much fuel but it would not get certification from either Europe or USA.

Existing Jet engine build in so much redundancy that modern commercial aircraft is suppose to takeoff with just one engine. They can cruise to destination even if one engine fails.

In theory it can even fly to its destination with 1 engine but standard procedure is to get to the nearest airport as you cannot risk the remaining engine also failing.

You don’t understand. Russia energy doesn’t make Russia rich but poor. That is a fact. Russia living standards is even lower than Romania. Now with sanctions the living standards will go down to Bulgaria or lower. If BMW sells a car worth $50,000, then it transfers $500 to Russia. It’s just 1 percent of total value.
This $500 is the energy and other costs come from Russia imports.
Putin should focus on lifting living standard than waging wars. China is another story.
