Hmm, that seems to defy logic, that they are developing a new replacement for it. The link says that the replacement could be a variant of existing aircrafts, like the Su-35 or PAKFA. Only then does it make sense.
I don't think any other country is developing an aircraft purely for interception (and related) roles, right? What is it about Russia that they need such a thing? Especially now, in the age of multirole aircrafts becoming the norm?
One of the reason why we dint go for Mig35 is Russia didnt buy it , we rejected as we might have problem in maintenance and spares .
