There is no contradiction in my statement, there is only contradiction in our perspectives. You are picturing a F-22 in your argument, I'm picturing a F-X because I'm looking at long term events.

There is no threat of conflict between any major powers in the near term. The F-22 is far superior to existing jets, but only in the near term. Right now it's the mid term and long term events that really matter. That;s when Russia and China are going to grow into really big threats.

Of course the contradiction is there. You just do not want to see it.

As former military, I cannot afford to plan a war based upon what is in the lab, whether that lab is ours or theirs. Spare everyone the pretentiousness by going 'long term'.

Not true.

All Ufimtsev did was formalize the math for behaviors of waves off edges and surfaces. He never intended his work to have any military values. It was the Soviet government who reviews their scientists' works and determine which have any military value and classify accordingly. Ufimtsev was allowed to publish internationally in academia and later was surprised to find that the US used it to create the F-117.

The primary reason why the argument that Ufimtsev is the 'father of stealth' is because the person have a personal interest in cutting the US down a notch. Simple as that. It is not malice. Just a desire to see an alternative to the US when the US seems to be so prominent in so many areas.

No. Sukhoi states their RCS figure is average RCS. That includes big spikes in RCS.

If you take the average RCS of current fighters, including the Typhoon and Rafale, it will be very large.

That would mean the French are more than 10 years ahead compared to the US simply based on their deployed capability. It will be 15 years when the F-35 hits FRP.

That shouldn't affect Russia's development programs adversely. The Russian economy is not the same as the US economy. Their main markets have been growing really fast while American markets have become stagnant.

As already explained, due to their economic problems, the Russian R&D budget for the PAK FA program has roughly doubled overall. The FGFA program's R&D budget increased from 330B rubles to 518B rubles. That's equivalent to $100B of R&D in American money.
