Yes even I was surprised with this thuggish government of Rajapaksha we made it to the top of South Asia. Well again I have no idea how other South Asian countries operate.

Well, this isn't really a huge achievement. Countries like Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh are basically
failed states. The Only country that can compete with Sri Lanka is India and several Indian states like
Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Haryana and Tamil Nadu are almost on the same level as Sri Lanka.
