According to British records, around 25 million Indians died in 100 years. Why have such famines not occurred since?

I'd like to go into India's crop planting patterns and how essential commodities were replaced by "high value" export crops, which farmers saw little end benefit, bar their rich landlords and of course the Empire.

British civilized you as much as they could.

Dude, it is a historical fact that the British created the Indian state. There was no such thing as 'India' as a country before the British arrived.



What Indians need are toilets, safety from rape, food to stop the starvation, schools to educate the illiterate and hospitals to stop the rampant diseases.

Freedom to elect a corrupt regime giving no development will not get Indians anywhere.

Until that caste system is dismantled Indians won't progress. This is why British rule would be helpful to India.

Well as they say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, almost every country has/had an empire and one that normally results in mass deaths of some sort but people dont mention them as they arent in memory like the British empire was. The fact that empires were "a fact" back then then its not a good thing that the British ruled India but it could be far worse, most the countries ruled by the Dutch/French/Portugese etc suffered just as badly and in some cases worse and now almost every country under other empire rule apart from Brazil is in a fairly bad way.

Nothing good about being ruled but sometimes its necessary, every nation has been ruled by others at some point and plenty of times its beneficial in the long run. As for famines, according to wikipedia the worst ones in India were before British rule and were for various reasons but its something that happens when your overpopulated, same in China where floods have claimed the lives of millions, something unimaginable to someone who lives in a country with a population smaller than that.
