In a last minute try to seal the game..

It was breathtaking Rugby.. So proud as a Asian Rugby fan.. The last ten minutes was insane and i think i woke up the neighbors when the last try was scored..

It was insane!! I'll be rooting for them all the way and the next WC will be in Japan in 2019.. I'll be there for sure.. This is why they say Rugby is the game played in heaven

Rugby WC: Japan stuns two-time winners South Africa 34-32 » The Nation

LONDON: Japan pulled off perhaps the biggest upset in Rugby World Cup history on Saturday, defeating two-time World Cup champions South Africa 34-32 in a ferocious encounter at Brighton Community Stadium.

Replacement Karne Hesketh raced in at the corner in the 84th minute to snatch victory from a pulsating contest in the Pool B opener.

Ferocious tackling from Japan kept them within two points of the Springboks at halftime after driving mauls brought tries for South Africa’s Francois Louw and Bismarck du Plessis, with Michael Leitch touching down for Japan.
The reliable boot of fullback Ayumu Goromaru nudged Japan in front early in the second half, but that was quickly cancelled out by a try from South African lock Lood De Jager.
Both sides exchanged a series of penalties before Springboks snatched another try as replacement Adriaan Strauss burst through the defence. But then Japan found space out wide, sending Goromaru in at the corner; his conversion levelling the scores.

Another Springbok penalty looked like breaking Japanese hearts before Hesketh grabbed the winner in overtime. – [Agencies]

That's an awesome feat by Japsn. Both countries battled with vigor. Al and all sport was the winner.

Epic battle.. Till the last second of the match.. Japan never gave up, They could have easily settled for a draw but went for the win.. Thats what Rugby is all about.. The greatest game on Earth.. :-)

You could see the passion of their fans as well they were crying tears of joy in the isles

it was a nail biting match.. although i was supporting SA.. but what a win Japan..

Huge part of the credit should go to their coach Eddie Jones.. Great tactician.. Japan played wide ball because they know they cant compete with much bigger Saffa's up front.. And the work rate of the loose forwards were amazing on rush defense.. Japan made some 170 odd tackles in that game.. Amazing fitness

Good to see underdog win against one of the traditional goliaths. Congrats to Japan.

@Gibbs Have SL ever qualified for Rugby union WC?

I remember watching them when I was a boy in Hong Kong rugby sevens. Always supported them!

Nah mate.. Not even close.. Currently ranked third in Asia behind Hong Kong in 7's.. For Sri Lanka it's be difficult to compete with the big boys in 15's(4th in Asia, 37th in the world).. 7's on the other hand they can be quite competitive

The junior team qualified for two U20 RWC's though
