“An attempt to assassinate General Cariappa, Commander in Chief of the Indian Army, was made during the General’s recent inspection tour of East Punjab. Six persons have been sentenced to death in connection with the plot; several high army officers are believed involved.”

“General Cariappa as a South Indian is resented by Sikh officers of the Indian Army. The RSS is capitalising on the North-South rift among army officers, whom informant considers treacherous and unreliable, to spread dissension. Officers from Travancore, Maharashtra and Madras are invariably loyal to General Cariappa.”

There was a file made public with no date on it which carried the photograph of a Bombay-based Blitz weekly. It was a tabloid considered close to Moscow. The report quotes a CIA researcher who was struggling to establish the reason behind the Kashmir conflict between India and Pakistan.
The researcher wondered if India would consider imposing military rule as suggested by General Cariappa. General Cariappa was a field marshal in 1965. The General, according to this researcher, believed that a short military rule on India would help get rid of the communist threat.
General Cariappa had nearly escaped death in Punjab, getting almost killed. The plot to assassinate the then COAS was planned by his fellow Indian Army Officers as per CIA.

Why is it bad news for RSS?
Well, RSS considers itself as one of the most patriotic religious parties in India. The current PM of India openly cherishes his relationship with RSS and describes how his political struggle is inspired by RSS. RSS is considered extremist by many but no one ever questioned their loyalty towards the country. Due to their large religious following, they have played an influential role in helping political parties win elections. So, this may seem to become a flash point between the RSS followers and patriotic Indians.

Nothing new. This caste schism is known. We have other threads on this forum discussing this. What is perplexing is the attempt by the Ambedkarites to present Anti-Brahminism as a form of secularism, or a pro-Muslim/Minority stance.
Muslims and minority groups in their ignorance blindly support Anti-Brahminism thinking that all Brahmins are bad for them.
In fact nothing could be further from the truth. Ambedkar was as anti-Muslim and communal as his contemporary M. S. Golwalkar. He just didn't see Golwalkar's attempt to brush the caste schism in the Hindu society under the carpet in the name of Hindu Unity against Muslims. For Ambedkar Muslims were as disgusting as Brahmins.
For the record secular Brahmins have always stood for the rights of the Muslims, Indira Gandhi, Nehru, Jyoti Basu, Mamta Bannerjee, H. N. Bahuguna, Jagannath Mishra, ...Narasimha Rao, to name just a few of the thousands of Brahmins who have stood by to protect and help Muslims in the teeth of fascist opposition from their extremist counterparts. The Dalit leaders couldn't be bothered about Muslims short of expected praise from them.
Army officers getting assassinated is also not new in India. Ex-Chief of Army Staff A. S. Vaidya , was assassinated by Sikh militants and so were at least one more Major General, Brigadier, and senior Army officers during the Sikh Indian Army Mutiny of 1984.

The only people I know who use the word Anti Brahmisim are facist Brahmins. Ambhedkar was against Brhaminism, he never hid that fact. He out right rejected its concept of caste, and openly challenged Ghandhi for his pro-brhamin politics.
