The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, have said they are "looking forward to building a lasting friendship with the people of Pakistan" during their first ever visit to the country due to begin on October 14.

"The UK’s links with Pakistan are extensive, and Their Royal Highnesses are looking forward to building a lasting friendship with the people of Pakistan," read a statement by the royal couple's spokesperson on Friday.

During the course of their visit, Prince William and Kate "will pay respect to the historical relationship between Britain and Pakistan" but the larger focus will remain "on showcasing Pakistan as it is today — a dynamic, aspirational and forward-looking nation", said the statement.

The handout, released by Kensington Palace, currently the official residence of the Duke and Duchess, said that the tour will encompass "the modern leafy capital Islamabad, the vibrant city of Lahore, the mountainous countryside in the North, and the rugged border regions to the West".

"The visit will span over 1000km, and will take in Pakistan’s rich culture, its diverse communities, and its beautiful landscapes," it added.

During their visit, the royal couple will also interact with organisations "which empower young people and ensure they have the best possible start in life".

"Access to quality education, particularly to girls and young women is one of the UK’s top priorities in Pakistan," according to the statement.

It said that the Duke and Duchess look forward to spending time with young Pakistanis whom they wish to hear from about their aspirations for the future.

The royal couple has requested they be provided with ample opportunities to meet "as many Pakistanis as possible".

They are expected to meet with "a wide variety of people, including children and young people, leaders from government, business and the charity sector, inspiring conservationists, and well-known cultural figures and sporting stars", the statement further said.

Another key area of focus during the trip will be climate change. Prince William and Kate "are keen to learn more about the climate change issues affecting Pakistan and our world, and the positive work being undertaken to combat these challenges".

They will also "spend time understanding the complex security picture in Pakistan". In this regard, meetings with UK and Pakistan military personnel will be held "who are sharing expertise to improve security".

William and Kate's visit to Pakistan was first announced in late June. It is the first royal trip to the country in more than a decade.

As a precursor to the trip to Pakistan, the two were hosted on Wednesday by Prince Karim Aga Khan at the Aga Khan Centre in London's Kings Cross where they engaged with members of the Pakistani community.

Hazrat Ehdi marhoom sahib was also an Ismaili (Bohra). And was declared kafir on this forum many times. if it were not for Ismailis there would be no universal ambulance service in Pakistan nor any orphanages and shelters. if it were left to wahabis, ahmadis and 12vers they would have it exclusive for their own sects only saying: all calamities are a curse from Allah for wrong-doers (a bit like Brahmin and karma, don't help the needy because ...).

I don't want a religious denate. But as we pakistanis respect Ruth pfau, Ganga raam, we should respect Agha khanis for their support to pakistan ,GB and it's people. Thanks

Pakistani designer HSY could have the honour of dressing Kate Middleton during her royal trip to Pakistan.

In just one more day, the Duchess of Cambridge and her husband Prince William are set to embark on their first official tour of the country. But the question on everyone’s mind is, what will Kate be packing for such a culturally important trip?

According to People, Pakistan’s very own HSY is one of the top picks to dress the Royal. As Susan Kelly of the publication quoted, “There are some tremendous designers either in Pakistan or with Pakistani roots.” She continued, “There’s one called Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, known as HSY.”

The five-day tour, which the details are being kept under wraps for security reasons, has been described by aides as their “most complex” tour to date due to logistical considerations. With a cultural need for modest clothing and a temperature of 31 degrees in Islamabad, Kate could follow the lead of Princess Diana, who undertook a solo royal tour in 1991, by wearing several traditional, lightweight styles.

Kate Middleton’s all-green dress shows she is ready for her trip to Pakistan

“I think we will probably see at least one traditional shalwar kameez from Kate on this trip,” said Kelley, who launched her blog that follows Kate’s fashion back in 2011. “Diana wore that look multiple times in Pakistan and I think she has on occasion looked to Diana for inspiration, while being careful not to copy her.”

Although the fashionable Royal has not worn such a look before, she did don a Beulah dress and headscarf to visit a mosque in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia back in 2012. According to fashion analysts, Kate’s confidence has grown tremendously since then.

While on tour in India and Bhutan in 2016, Kate stuck to several of her favorite British designers — Jenny Packham, Alexander McQueen, Temperley London and Emilia Wickstead. There’s a high chance the Duchess will repeat some of those names, but will also wear at least a few local labels such as HSY.

Prince William is preparing for a trip with some spice, as the British royal sheds light on his feelings about his highly-anticipated trip to Pakistan.

With their first tour on the calendar in less than two weeks, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are gearing up to jet off to South Asia, where new sights and tastes await, reported E! News.

During an engagement at the Aga Khan Center in London, William and Kate Middleton met with prominent British-Pakistani figures, including 2017 MasterChef winner, Dr. Saliha Mahmood Ahmed.

On the topic of Pakistani food, the father of three shared some insight into his relationship with spicy eats. “Love[d] spice, but not heat. “Me and heat, not so good,” William noted.

Nevertheless, it sounds like the royal is planning to dig in to some scrumptious Desi food, as he reportedly said, “I’m looking forward to it anyway. I’m going to need a bigger suit.”

Meanwhile, it doesn’t sound like Kate has any issue with spiciness. “It’s so hard cooking curry in the family. The children have a portion with no spice, yours is medium,” the duchess said to William. “And I quite like it hot.”

Journalist Sarfraz Manzoor, who also attended the event, poked fun at the culinary options in his native country for William. “They were saying he likes medium spice,” Manzoor told reporters. “I don’t think it exists in Pakistan.”

Meanwhile, it sounds like the couple’s only daughter, Princess Charlotte, takes after her mom as Kate said the 4-year-old is “pretty good” with heat.

We should welcome them, Pakistan being safe or not this visit will help us all Inshallah

Thank goodness Kate and Wills are coming as opposed to Mrs tabloid-bait and the ginge.

Go to London and just look at hundreds if not thousands of people there to see Buckingham Palace. Look at how much free press the entire family gets throughout the entire world. The amount of money and PR earned by the UK makes whatever they are given worth it.

Besides, I think visits like these are paid for out of their own pockets. People often forget that the royal family is incredibly rich even without the title, thanks to all their land and estates.

In other words...Thanks to "Loot and plunder" the royals directed and got benefited from, during Colonial days.

On the eve of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s arrival in the country, UK envoy Thomas Drew has said that the royal couple’s visit would showcase how Pakistan is “a forward looking country”.

“Most importantly, they hope to meet as many Pakistanis as possible during the course of the visit,” the British high commissioner said in a video message on Twitter.

“They are looking forward to building a lasting friendship with the people of Pakistan,” Drew went on to say as the royals are set to tour the country from October 14 to 18.

The British diplomat said he believed the royal couple will “get a very warm welcome”.

Their visit comes at the request of the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

The couple would like to see the “breadth and depth” of the country, said Drew, adding that the duo would see “the modern leafy capital in Islamabad, the vibrant city of Lahore, the mountainous countryside of the north and the rugged border region of the west”.

“There’s a real sense of buzz and anticipation for their visit,” he added.

According to The Telegraph, more than 1,000 police officials will secure the couple as they travel across the country in what Kensington Palace described as their most complex visit ever undertaken.

Their itinerary has been tightly guarded for the five-day stay with media only being told details at the last minute.

Courtesy and hospitality aside, why is our nation so impressed by their arrival? I wonder if it has something to do with ingrained subjugation in the awe of royalty.

Imran Khan is on a mission to improve Pakistan's international image. I'm sure Imran Khan pushed for this visit behind the scenes given his strong connections with the royal family.

It is no secret that British royal family receives global coverage wherever it goes especially the royal couple who is a magnet for positive press. This visit of soon to be King of Britian to Pakistan will be covered in newspapers around the world and the coverage will be largely positive. When was the last time Pakistan got such positive coverage?

Indeed Pakistan needs some positive coverage. If cashing in on their celebrity status gets the job done, who am I to disagree.

Agreed, not a fan of royals anywhere but there is no doubt visits like this one improve a nations image, which indirectly has a positive impact on the economy as well (FDI, importing etc.).

Well we cant hold people responsible for the sins of their ancestors, and as an institution its no longer capable of ever doing anything like that anymore.

This is how the world used to work back then, nations would attack eachother and colonise or steal whatever they could before moving on, and before that era it was kingdoms and before that it was tribes.
