President Hassan Rouhani of Iran has expressed satisfaction over Tehran-New Delhi progressing relations and invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to pay a visit to Iran,IRNA reported.

President Rouhani’s invitation was handed over to the Indian premier on Sunday by senior presidential adviser Akbar Torkan who is currently in India to attend the seventh Vibrant Gujarat business summit.

The Indian premier welcomed the invitation noting he would travel to Tehran at his earliest possible time.

The three-day Gujarat business summit is attended by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as well as ministers and corporate leaders from 100 countries.

In his meeting with the Indian prime minister, Torkan outlined Tehran’s views on huge potentials existing for promotion of Iran-India relations.

He said Iran can help energy hungry India meet its demands through a gas pipeline which would take Iran’s gas to the Gujarat port in India via the port of Chabahar in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province (southeast of the country) and after passing through a 940-km-long sea route.

The Iranian official called for further support of the Indian prime minister for promoting bilateral economic ties.

Prime Minister Modi said New Delhi attaches great importance to bilateral relations with Tehran.

He referred to Iran’s Chabahar Free Trade Zone as a center of joint economic interests of Iran and India.

Modi stressed that Iran and India have stayed together in difficult times.

Potential for Indo-Iranian ties is very huge

. . .
yaay for stronger Indo/Iranian ties ! Friendly nations with rich cultural and historical ties, Saudi etc is where the violent religious crazies come from, and Iran is literally on the front-line fighting ISIS/Qaeda and the rest, we should ally with Iran and help them.

The quagmire for India will be balancing between Israel, who view Iran as their greatest threat, and a 'natural' partner in Iran.

IMO, beside defence procurement, Iran actually pips Israel on all other metrics.. This will be interesting to watch.

So a visit of Indian PM to Iran is almost finalised.
@Lord Zen @sree45

this is very good, when sadly the region is bursting into flames and terrorism is rocking everyone , iran and india are acting as anchors to this restive and almost wrecked ship of middle east .

looking forward to even better iran-india relations
