MOSCOW, September 05. /ITAR-TASS/. Rosneft and PetroVietnam have agreed to establish joint ventures (JV) for operation in two sectors of the shelf of the Pechora Sea. Investments in prospecting are tentatively estimated at $1.5 billion, a Rosneft announcement says.

The stake of Rosneft in the JV will be 66.67% and that of PetroVietnam 33.33%.

The accord has been reached under the agreement on main terms for cooperation in geological study, prospecting for and production of hydrocarbon fuel on the shelf of the Pechora Sea in the Yuzhno-Russkiy and Western Matveyevskoye license sectors. The two companies signed the agreement on November 12, 2013, during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Vietnam.

The overall extractable resources in the two sectors are estimated at 367 million tonnes of oil and 64 billion cubic metres of gas; those in ABC1+C2 category 13 million tonnes of oil, and 52 billion cubic metres of gas. The programme for geological prospecting in the two sectors presupposes drilling of five exploratory wells and the conduct of seismic survey.

Rosneft currently participates in projects to produce gas and condensate in two blocks on the shelf of Vietnam. The Rosneft Pipeline B.V. Company also owns 32.7% in the "Nam Con Son Pipeline" project which transports hydrocarbon fuel from the Nam Con Son oil and gas bearing area to the shore energy production facilities.

Russia is always the best big brother of VN :p:

Pleased to see this. Hopefully, this cooperation will teach VN to explore for oil in their own waters, or in foreign waters only at the invitation of the owner. The consent of the owner is very important.

The U.S/Japan will be a better Big brother for Vietnam.:usflag: Russia won't support you against China. They have an even more important/global relationship with China. Better for Vietnam to forget the cold war romance with the soviets and join the U.S like Philippines and Japan.:usflag:

LOL! The samurai and cowboy love Pho Tai Gan Sach, too.:rofl:

"Pechora" remind me to the name of excellent air defense missile system made in CCCP. Pechora sea is in EZZ of Russia.

Yeah sure they will help. But first you have to abandon/forget your romance with U.S.S.R/Russia, the old soviet days are long over, times have changed.:D So dont make the mistake of sticking/siding with the wrong side again, it will cost you much more than in the past.:p:usflag:

Ahahahaahhahahaah, are u kidding bro? Last time i checked/red, China colonised Vietnam for over 1000 years(the longest i have read in History), that makes Japan 50 years colonization of korea look like a child play(which the koreans still havent recovered from). And to make things worse, China will be even powerful/undisputed power in Asia in a decade or two from now. By this time , no country in the region will even come close to them in all fields believe me. So if anything it will better if things stay as they are now, since with each passing year it will be getting stronger and stronger.
So you are left with two options:
1. Forget about soviet Russia and Join the world's only superpower the U.S like Japan and philippines did or
2. make peace/negotiate with China, knowing you might have to make concessions or not.
So its up to Vietnam really.:bounce:

and remain poor? most richest countries remained neutral see switzerland

Well last time i checked Japan wasnt poor, neither was South Korea. So its up to the country's leadership first, the U.S can sure help, but she cant make all decisions/manage a country. its up to the people as well.
As for remaining neutral, why would Vietnam remain neutral? Switzerland's conditions is different from Vietnams. Vietnam has 2 options as i mentioned in my previous post. I dont see any other option for it apart from those.
But i do understand Russia benefits from the current tensions between Vietnam and China, since it helps Russia sells even more weapons/enrich its defence industries to poor/little Vietnam. So yes for you(Russia) it will be perfect for Vietnam to remain neutral (i.e not ally with the U.S) and keep having issues/tensions with China so Russia can keep milking poor Vietnam with its soviet weapons.:agree::bounce:

compare that to Singapore one of the richest countries on earth. And whats the problem of selling them weapons? Is it better they buy expensive western weapons instead cheaper russian? And second they get shares in russian oil fields? Where is it exploiting of vietnam? Does america give shares to petro vietnam in texas? hypocrite
