US Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul has denounced the US military presence in the Middle East, calling for a full withdrawal of American troops from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Speaking on the so-called Super Tuesday - the second Tuesday in March when voters take part in a 10-state race to choose their party’s presidential candidate, Paul said the current US-led wars and the presence of the US military in the Middle East are in violation of the American Constitution.

Paul, who was speaking to his supporters in North Dakota, added that he would significantly cut the US military budget, with his priority being the US “overseas spending” if elected president.

“Spend the money here at home if you have to but not overseas,” he said.

Paul noted that he would cut overseas spending as the US wars have caused all sorts of problems for Americans, including a skyrocketing national debt for the country.

“Just in these past 10 years, these wars that we're fighting in the Middle East, over 8,500 Americans have died, 44,000 have come back with serious injuries, and amputations and all kinds of problems, hundreds of thousands looking for help because of [the] post-traumatic stress syndrome, at the same time, economically, it's been very damaging. It has added $4 trillion to our national debt,” Paul further said.

He went on to say to his crowd of supporters, “that is what you're inheriting. This is the reason why it is so important, if you're talking about peace and prosperity, you have to change the Constitution and have a lot less war and make a lot more sincere effort to promote the cause of peace.”

The US Republican presidential contender also criticized the US President Barack Obama administration for violating individual liberties through its introduction of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and the so-called Web Privacy Bill of Rights.

The NDAA which was signed into law by President Obama on New Year’s Eve codifies that US citizens can be detained indefinitely without charge and without trial.

. . . .
Beautiful words, it's a shame he has no chance. Super Tuesday just happened and he didn't get N. Dakota or Vermont, the only two states he had a sliver of a chance in. The media has completely exiled him from any coverage.

.
What he is suggesting is a pure recipe of disaster. Immediate pull out will create a mess that will reach America sooner or later. They started the work on the disease and it will be better it is finished before they start packing their bags.

I agree Us forces need to be pullout but in phases and only after ensuring that american interests are served and are well protected.

.
I guess the sentiment of US general populace, at the moment, is very much against any war. Hence the public appeasement statements..

Normally, if a president of US is seeking re=election, he is very likely to declare war against any tom, di ck & harry nation. This time around, OBama too is playing it pretty safe, because of the same public sentiment.

They have their leg, arm, neck & what nots submerged @ss deep in ME. Don't worry, even if they elect Jesus Christ as president, even he's not gonna do any pull-out. Yes, even Ron Paul won't do it..

Unless they have discovered some cheaper alternative to fossil fuel.

when they talk about the problems their war mongering has caused, they only talk about the damages it has inflicted on their society.

Paul fell short of mentioning the main issue; that “what we are doing is morally wrong” and that “we are ruining other peoples live”.

Doesn't this bother you guys?

He has already said these wars are immoral and unjust! He even said how would we as Americans like it if someone came to our home and occupied us and forced their way of life onto us.

Ron Paul hasn't fell short of anything you just haven't heard all of his views.

I used to be a Ron Paul supporter because of his foreign policy stands. I had his posters on my front yard and on my house. And this was in 2008. Over the years I found out that his economic policy's are not workable. He believes in small govt. and isolationism, which I believe is not a good policy for the USA, going forward. Just yesterday his party people called me to get signatures, I told them that I no longer support him.

I think he is honest and sincere and sounds like a good man, unlike most politicians here, but he is totally misguided about his libertarian philosophy made popular by people like Ayn Rand.

.
its not possible and its easy to say but difficult to bring on table.Like obama chanted about change :blah:
Pentagon runs U.S not president of U.S

.
Ron Paul at it again, even after getting beaten so many times this guy never learns.

Why would US pull out of the Middle East when they have gone through so much trouble to make bases and gain influence in the neighborhood. It would be pointless to leave all the natural resources, after spending so much on war.

Thats my boy !!!

My vote certainly has his name on it.

It means Ron Paul is not going to win the nomination. Afghanistan require international presence more than ever before. The world community cannot let these coward Talibunnies take over Afghanistan again. This defeats the whole purpose of War on Terror.
