Almost all of them are settled farmers or craftsmen.So a few thousands foreign invaders once in a century can not alter anything in any significant ways.The people of Bangladesh now is very much the same physically of what was one thousand years ago or two thousands years ago. A visitor/trader stays for only a few days in the land he visits. But, a large group of people from the mountains of Afghanistan were not visitors or traders. They were the conqueror of this land, who domiciled and died in Bengal. Their offspring became a part of this land. I hope, you understand the difference. Moreover, neither a trader nor a conqueror is a preacher. There were other types of people from the Muslim lands who came here, preached and settled in this land.

PDF is certainly not a history class. But, I would say people in Bengal did not convert to Islam immediately after Ikhtier Khilji settled here in 1200s, as believed by some PDF members. It was about 375 years later that Emperor Akber sent many a pious Muslims to Bengal to preach for Islam. He awarded them huge land grants without being asked to pay taxes.

These people settled here, preached for Islam, built Maktab and Madrassa, raised their families and died here. Please read Haqiqat-e-Musalman-e-Bangal, a book written by Khondoker Fazle Rabbi who was a Manager of Nawabi Estate of Murshidabad.

Bangladesh has 170 million citizens with a staunch pro Turkish stance. Not helping them would be morally wrong. This is an investment in our friendship which I believe will one day also lead to a closer economic relationship.
