Roadmap for 200 LCA ( MK-1, LCA-1P, MK-II) (Update 2)

After all HAL is a company and it has no say in decision making.
Please provide me any link where any MOD official even entertain HAL's fantasy let alone adore it.
Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha said in it's latest interview on the situation of Idle assembly line after the completion of MK-1.
We won't let the assembly lines idle after that. If it is the situation we will order more mk1 standard tejas to keep lines running.

Sir for your information they can do whatever they want with their in house R&D budget but LCA is not their project to start with. It's a ADA project and HAL do not have any authority to meddle their nose even if they like to.

HAL is not ministry of defence. This is what I earlier said it's just HAL's fantasy nothing else.

It is quite silly to bash HAL, actually they have been a good integrator. One keeps forgetting that HAL when it comes to Tejas has delivered good build quality, keep in mind the LCA has been tested extensively from heat soaks of 50 degrees to cold soaks of -40, Tejas has taken off from Leh where 4 out 6 MRCA contenders failed. The biggest thorn in LCA project has always been the IAF which sadly for the last 15 years has been plagued by import lobby management at the highest levels. Only when the new Govt. and MOD came into power, they were able to get IAF back on rational thought process. One can't blame HAL for designs done at ADA and one can't blame ADA for designs which had to keep changing due to IAF's constant changing of requirements.

HAL can with the help of ADA and EADS can certainly reduce the weight of the LCA by 700kgs. Also GE F414s today are flying with CMCs which allow weight reduction of around 150-200 kgs, GE can quite easily apply this technology to F404IN engines as the benefit for GE with an additional 80 LCA mk-1P order would be around 160 engine or more. such a mod would allow for a drop in fuel consumption by nearly 25% and increase in range with roughly the same %.

The real need of the hour is for MOD/HAL to expand production facilities. They need to authorize expansion of the line where by 2018, we are able to produce around 36 aircraft per year i.e 2 sqds of 16 aircraft each for local production and 4 aircraft potentially for export customers.

don't take me wrong, I am bashing no one, I am simply stating the fact that there is no such sanctioned prroject like MK-1A

It's just HAL's proposal and we are here discussing as if it is happening. I am merely saying that Ministry of Defence has never sanctioned such project and HAL has no authority to start such project.

You really need to go back to school, ADA-DRDO is the design/ Development agency and HAL is lead integrators & manufacturer. ADA/DRDO designed the aircraft & whatever part/components could be sourced from local labs of the DRDO are managed by ADA, the rest is done by HAL and external suppliers. ADA is but a key partner. HAL with the help of EADS was able to find potential weight savings of 700 kgs or more. As for the LCA Mk-1A, it can easily be sanctioned since HAL belongs to the MOD.

HAL went to the Govt. with this plan of LCA mk-1P so that the LCA line isn't sitting idle post delivery of initial 40 LCA Mk-1 from 2018-2022 when LCA Mk-2 should be ready for production. HAL was seeking a minimum of 64 orders to keep the line busy while working in the next two years to shed the weight and speed up testing of AESA. Keep in mind the AESA is already being tested on the ground, it will begin flight tests early next year. This shedding of weight will be done by ADA doing redesigning of landing gear with EADS help and HAL wil tweak the FBW & perform integration & flight trials when this is done. When it comes to LCA, HAL is the responsible organization, hence it is quite often in the spotlight.

IAF shot back saying HAL need to prove it can deliver 40 MK-1 by 2018. So now the course of action for HAL & MOD will be expand production capacity so as to meet the 2018 timeline for 40 fighters. This additional order 80 LCA mk-1P will be confirmed shortly after FOC is awarded next year.

As far as the new order of Lca mk-1A/P is concerned, I think we should better wait for the actual project approval
and shouldn't count the chicken's before they hatched.

That is Why HAL is Partner in Giant Joint ventures Like,HAWK, MKI,FGFA & other Etc
