Indian journalism was held up as a beacon for 3rd world media, to emulate etc but found very few diseenting voice when it came to India itself. It was always much happier writing critical pieces directed at other countries esp PK and China and was successful in building an inhouse narrative regarding PK that was then picked up by other media companies outside India. Now, the self censorship has reached another level and very few credible voices exist that will write about and against Modi, against India's failed policies, too beholden to the right.
